This study investigated how incorporating reading activities in writing classes can help secondary school students develop their writing skills. The study was conducted using samples selected conveniently which involved 30 Form Four and Five students from one of the local secondary schools in Kapit, Sarawak. This study examined specifically on the effects of engaging reading activities in writing classes on their writing performance. This qualitative study examined how incorporating reading activities into writing classes can influence students' writing results. Data was collected from a semi-structured interview and a pre-and post-test experimental research based on writing tests that were graded using the Common European Framework Reference (CEFR) writing marking scheme. The result was analysed using descriptive statistic to find the mean and standard deviation of both pre and post-test. Findings showed that incorporating reading activities into writing tasks during English language class increased the respondents' writing output significantly. The results of this study are hoped to assist English as Second Language (ESL) students and teachers in recognising the importance of reading activities in writing classes as an effort to improve writing performance.

The emergence of technology has paved the way for 21 st century learning the world over. Education empowered by technology has shaped Malaysian ESL Sixth Form pre-university students to become autonomous learners. Technology related approaches such as the flipped classroom has allowed better preparations for classroom lessons in writing skills among form six students. Despite the various research done on the use of flipped classroom to improve writing skills among secondary students, very few studies have been conducted on enhancing ESL Sixth Form pre-university students' skills in writing through the use of flipped classroom. Therefore, this study aims to explore the Malaysian Sixth Form students' perception towards the use of flipped classroom in enhancing writing skills. A quantitative approach which involves a pre-test, a post-test and a survey research design was chosen for this study. 21 Form Six students from a Form Six college in Klang, Selangor has been selected as respondents through purposive sampling. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data and the results of the survey indicates that the use of flipped classroom is able to enhance the effectiveness of writing skills among ESL Sixth Form pre-university students.

This study aims to show the influence between reading habits and writing skills among students. This research uses quantitative methods. The population used in this study were seventh grade students of SMP At Tibyan Gempol. The sample used in this study amounted to 70 students. The technique used in data collection is a questionnaire used to measure reading habits and a writing test is used to determine how much students are in writing skills. The results of calculations with SPSS for Windows show that the coefficient of the influence of the variables on reading habits and writing skills is 0.627 and the rtable value at significance = 0.05 with df = 68 is 0.235. So, it can be concluded that the value (0.625) > rtable (0.235). This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This means that there is a positive influence between the variable X (Reading Habits) and the variable Y (Writing Skills) in seventh grade students.
