The influence of raw material growth region, anatomical structure and chemical composition of wood on the quality properties of particleboards

Abstract: In the present study, the impact of raw material grown region on the physical, mechanical, surface properties and formaldehyde emission of the particleboard was investigated. Ailanthus altissima wood grown in Trabzon had longer fiber length and thicker fiber and trachea cell wall than those of the wood grown in Artvin. The highest amounts of lignin, ash, condensed tannin and solubility values were found in wood grown in Artvin. Ailanthus altissima wood grown in Trabzon had higher amounts of cellulose and hemic… Show more

“…The pH of A. durangensis bagasse, plant and leaves of Pennisetum sp. is similar to Ailanthus altissima (5.9) (Bardak, Nemli & Tyriaki, 2017) and Populus canadensis moench (5.97) (Baharoglu et al, 2013). L. aegyptiaca fruit presented a pH close to Pinus brutia Ten.…”

“…Holocellulose is the main component of wood cell wall. The strength of wood is due to the cellulose and in part to the hemicelluloses, and lower holocellulose content might directly affect the cell structure of wood, thereby reducing the mechanical properties of wood [21]. Lignin plays a role in connecting cells and imparting rigidity of the cell.…”

“…Sengon mengandung selulosa 57,11% (Putra et al, 2018), sedangkan bagas sorgum mengandung selulosa 34,87% (Kusumah et al, 2016).
