The ecological development of a modern urbanised territory is grounded in the fundamental concepts of sustainable green development, the concept of which reflects the satisfaction of the city’s needs while preserving the environment. The study has the objective of formulating recommendations to enhance the institutional structure of urban parks. These recommendations are aimed at aligning park operations with the principles of sustainable green development in cities. Additionally, the study seeks to improve the social and economic efficiency of the environmental infrastructure in urban areas. To achieve these goals, the study employed general scientific methods of cognition. They include analysis, abstraction, synthesis, induction, and deduction. The study also utilized methods of specification and formalisation. Throughout the research, the focus was on investigating the existing state of the management system for urban parks and evaluating the reserves of their recreational capabilities. It is established that the park economy of Ukraine is currently functioning in isolation, so the environmental optimisation of this area requires the formation of a modern approach to the management and organisation system. It has been determined that green areas of the city are a basic prerequisite for preserving the species diversity of local ecosystems. The primary directions for development of urban park systems in the direction of recreation are highlighted. The specifics of their management process with the involvement of modern monitoring and investment opportunities are investigated, and further development prospects are outlined. The study recommends key measures to improve the situation in the examined field. These measures encompass the enhancement of recreational opportunities within parks, the monitoring and control of anthropogenic impact on the environment, the regulation of quality and safety standards, and the preservation of biodiversity in local ecosystems. The practical significance of the research results is evident in their potential application in the development of programs. These programs are designed to enhance the efficiency of urban parks, elevate their recreational value, and establish a resilient ecological park network in Ukraine

Investigating the Impact of Streetscape and Land Surface Temperature on Cycling Behavior

Cycling is a flexible way of traveling that can promote the development of urban public transportation. Previous studies on the influence of cycling have focused more on the cyclists themselves, ignoring the influences of the features of natural environments, such as streetscapes and land surface temperatures (LSTs), on cycling behavior. Therefore, in this study, street view image data and Landsat 8 imagery were utilized to extract streetscape and LST features; in particular, a framework was established for a single-indicator analysis and a multiple-indicator interaction analysis based on the random forest model with GeoDetector. The model was used to explore the effects of streetscapes and surface temperatures on cycling behavior. The results of this study for the main urban area of Beijing show that (1) high-density buildings and high population activity exacerbated the heat island effect at the city center and certain areas in the east, with the highest LST reaching 46.93 °C. In contrast, the greenery and water bodies in the northwestern and northeastern areas reduced the LST, resulting in a minimum temperature of 11.61 °C. (2) The optimal analysis scale was a 100 m buffer pair, and the regression fitting accuracy reached 0.83, confirming the notable influences of streetscape and LST characteristics on cycling behavior. (3) The random forest (RF) model results show that the importance of LST features and vegetation and sky conditions exceeded 0.07, and a reasonable sky openness and open building ventilation became the first choices for promoting cycling behavior. (4) According to the GeoDetector model, the LST features alone exhibited an importance of more than 0.375 for cycling behavior, while interactions with streetscapes greatly reduced the negative effect of LST on cycling behavior. The interaction between walls and plants reached 0.392, while the interaction between multiple environmental factors and greenery and favorable ventilation counteracted the negative impact of high-temperature heat waves on the residents’ choice of bicycles.

Industrial development and urban growth challenge Kota Surakarta, especially regarding environmental quality and community welfare. Population growth and urban infrastructure development are likely to contribute to the increasing solar-heat absorption and temperature. The presence of green open space is a method to regulate urban microclimate by its capacity to intervene in air humidity, temperature, and light penetration. This research aims to study biodiversity-vegetation's role in determining visitors' comfort levels at Monjari and Jaya Wijaya Parks of Surakarta City. Study findings will be of fundamental consideration in developing comfortable green open spaces that will stabilize the microclimate of Surakarta City. This study relied on both primary and secondary data. Primary data is collected using a random sample method on a square plot. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index is employed to assess the diversity of plant types in both parks. Research findings demonstrate that Jaya Wijaya Park has more biodiversity than Monjari Park. Monjari Park, on the other hand, has a higher carbon and biomass uptake level despite having various vegetation types, including trees, saplings, and seedlings. In conclusion, Surakarta City requires appropriate biodiversity-vegetation management to develop comfortable green open spaces.
