The development of an African native language-based programming language, using Yoruba as a case study, is envisioned. Programming languages based on the lexicons of indigenous African languages are rare to come by unlike those based on Asian and / or European languages. Availability of programming languages based on lexicons of African indigenous language would facilitate comprehension of problem-solving processes using computer by indigenous learners and teachers as confirmed by research results. In order to further assess the relevance, usefulness and needfulness of such a programming language, a preliminary needs assessment survey was carried out. The needs assessment was carried out through design of a structured questionnaire which was administered to 130 stakeholders in computer profession and computer education; including some staffers and learners of some primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions in Oyo and Osun states of Nigeria, Africa. The responses to the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The analysis of the responses to the questionnaire shows that 89% of the respondents to the questionnaire expressed excitement and willingness to program or learn programming in their mother tongue-based programming language, if such a programming language is developed. This result shows the high degree of relevance, usefulness and needfulness of a native language-based programming language as well as the worthwhileness of embarking on development of such a programming language.

This research was conducted to analyze the need for developing learning tools based on religious moderation in schools in conflict-prone areas in West Nusa Tenggara. This qualitative research uses a document analysis and narrative analysis approach. The research subjects were 20 people from conflict-prone areas in West Nusa Tenggara who were taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using documentation techniques, focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. Data from document analysis was interpreted using the thematic analysis method and FGD data was analyzed using narrative analysis to obtain conclusions regarding the need for developing learning tools based on religious moderation in schools in conflict-prone areas. The research results show that science learning tools in junior high schools in conflict-prone areas do not fully contain the value of religious moderation. Science learning tools for students in conflict-prone areas require explicit elements of moderation. Elements of religious moderation are needed in learning planning documents and textbook documents. The learning planning needed creates an inclusive learning environment, encourages cooperation, develops character values, increases religious understanding, and strengthens student character formation. The required teaching materials contain descriptions that provide a broad understanding of moderation, promote spiritual values, and assist students in character development.

Background: The landscape of otolaryngology training in Saudi Arabia is undergoing transformation due to the expansion of medical colleges and increased overseas medical scholarships. However, concerns persist regarding the satisfaction and adequacy of surgical education. This study aims to assess gaps in otolaryngology training through an in-depth needs assessment. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 85 otolaryngology–head and neck surgery residency graduates in Saudi Arabia between 2019 and 2021. Participants completed a validated questionnaire assessing deficiencies, importance, and competence in different subspecialty areas. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, median comparisons, and Kruskal–Wallis tests. Results: Participants identified deficiencies in training across domains, with significant variations in specific subspecialties among different regions. Dissatisfaction with clinical discussions, research training, access to simulation labs, and training in emerging subspecialties was evident. Conclusion: The study highlights challenges within otolaryngology training, emphasizing the need for continuous evaluation and adaptation to ensure high-quality and comprehensive training. Addressing these gaps is essential to produce well-rounded otolaryngologists capable of meeting the evolving demands of modern healthcare.
