The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged many educational institutions around the world in 2020 and 2021 as traditional education has been interrupted to prevent the spread of the virus. This forced the transition from traditional education to fully distance learning envi-ronments for all levels of education. The widespread adoption of distance learning has led instructors to form new digital learning environments and methods. In response to this unexpected situation, data regarding engineering students and their interaction with the learning environment was accumulated and processed, generating a matrix of 129 × 165 variables. The motivation for this research is to identify new variables that impact student performance during the disorientation of the educational process due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Statistical analysis was performed and discussed in this paper including correla-tion analysis, factor analysis, and clustering. Reliability analysis was also performed and ANOVA (analysis of variance) was applied to clusters. The novelty of this work is to use student performance data and statistical analysis of online surveys to reveal patterns that can help reduce dropout rates and transform the educational process, under extenuating and imposed distance learning circumstances. A major finding is that by applying innovative teaching methods, thereby meeting the challenge of an imposed distance learning environ-ment, students' spatial conceptions improve, overcoming the absence of a physical learning space. Deep insights for individual students were discovered, as well as significant relation-ships between students' transition from secondary to higher education and their understand-ing of geometric features. Evidence of the effectiveness of the online learning framework that was integrated showed that it positively influenced students' learning styles.

Introduction. The article examines the peculiarities of implementing Web 2.0 technology into the educational process, covers the advantages of certain web-services and electronic resources. It is noted that in the conditions of the information society there is a rapid development of software and hardware. Using services and electronic resources that support Web 2.0 technology, allows to diversify the educational process, make it more qualitative and interactive. The purpose of the article is to reveal specific features and benefits of online services and Web 2.0 electronic resources for organizing the educational process of a higher school. Results. It has been found that capabilities of Web 2.0 make it possible to create a modern educational environment, provide mixed and distance learning, and ensure creative application of acquired knowledge. This can be achieved thanks to various online services and electronic resources, which can be divided into several groups. It has been exposed that Web 2.0 technology is considered to be more a social innovation than a technological one. This is due to the possibility of creating thematic communities. It has also been revealed that virtual social networks, Google Classroom, Internet-blog, webinars, etc. are used to organize educational activities and communication between students and the teacher. It has been discovered that today's youth often stay in the virtual space of social networks, communicate, do educational tasks, etc. With that in view, there have been established the conditions that affect the effectiveness of the application of Web 2.0 technology in the educational process. Originality. The possibilities of virtual social networks, Google Classroom, Internet-blog, webinars and other services to organize the educational process in higher education have been identified. Conclusion. The implementation of Web 2.0 online resources and services allows to diversify the educational process, make it more interactive and interesting. The possibilities of Web 2.0 allow users to learn, exchange multimedia, increase social and informational competences. Working with Web 2.0 technology does not require special computer skills. The authors consider the usage of Web 3.0 technology in the educational process to be a promising direction of research.

Critical thinking and hypothetic-deductive scheme for studying the elements of quantum theory

<span lang="EN-US">The study provided research and experimental verification of the hypothetic-deductive scheme for teaching the theory of quantum physics to secondary school students. The study highlighted the technologies and didactic tools, which help to boost the effectiveness of teaching physics to students and develop their critical thinking. It was found that the hypothetic-deductive scheme is based on the concept of critical rationalism and it has such stages: problem-hypotheses-rational criticism-choice of hypothesis-rational criticism of the new theory-new problem. The study described the stages of its implementation for teaching students the basics of quantum physics. To prove the effectiveness of the suggested scheme, the study carried out a comparative experiment in which 479 students took part (there were 241 students in experimental classes and 238 students in control classes). The statistical procession and interpretation of the experiment results were carried out with Pearson’s Chi-squared test. After the experiment, the quality of learning achievements that corresponds to the sufficient and high levels is 62.87% in the experimental classes, whereas in the control classes this figure is 52.48%. In further prospect, researchers plan to check the effectiveness of the suggested scheme to study other theories, which are studied in secondary school.</span>
