The impact of regional trade policy uncertainty on the productivity of Chinese export enterprises: The case of China–ASEAN Free Trade Area

Abstract: Reduction of regional trade policy uncertainty is critical for promoting Chinese export enterprise productivity and will help the economy enter the high-quality development stage. We use the case of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area to empirically tests the impact of the reduction of regional trade policy uncertainty on the productivity of Chinese export enterprises. “…To further clarify the role of these two mechanisms in reducing SO 2 emission intensity, Employing Zhou et al (2023), we calculate the share of the two intermediary mechanisms of competitive effect and learning effect in the total effect, and the specific relationships are Effectcompetition=η1×ι2ι1$$ {Effect}_{competition}=\frac{\eta_1\times {\iota}_2}{\iota_1} $$ and Effectlearn=ω1×ι3ι1$$ {Effect}_{learn}=\frac{\omega_1\times {\iota}_3}{\iota_1} $$. Finally, we found that the contribution rates of the mechanism of competitive effect and learning effect are 23.28% and 32.54%, respectively.…”

Since the economic reform was introduced, especially since the accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Chinese government has attached great importance to the development of export trade and has introduced a series of policies and measures to "stabilize foreign trade" as an important strategic objective; this has achieved remarkable results.…”
