The impact of Jürgen Habermas’s scientific production: a scientometric review

Abstract: The use of bibliometrics, based on statistical and mathematical tools, makes it possible to measure the contributions of researchers to science. This is a widely used tool to assess scientific production in several areas of knowledge. Such methodology analyzes publication trends, author networks, structures of co-citation, journals and even the scientific contribution of renowned scholars in science. The precursor of bibliometrics, Eugene Garfield, who proposes the retrieval of information from the indexing of… Show more

“…Scientometrics is the quantitative analysis of scientific data, such as annual production, author collaboration, and citation networks [11]. Some common scientometric analysis applications are intellectual structure [12], collaboration networks [13], and citation analysis [14]. The workflow of this section is to start with the macro and reach the micro; therefore, the scientometric analysis starts with the scientific annual production, then the country analysis, the journal analysis, and, finally, the author collaboration analysis.…”

“…There have been 66 publications in prestigious scientific journals by 483 researchers. Out of these 66 publications, 26% (17) were published in the top-ranked Q1 journals, 15% (10) in Q2, 18% (12) in Q3, and 14% (9) in Q4. The most cited article, with 120 citations, aims to reconcile economic growth, resource sustainability, and environmental protection [27].…”

“…This technique not only identifies key authors and core research but also elucidates the connections between them through the statistical analysis of books, journals, and other publications. Essential for tracking an author's output and influence, bibliometric analysis is also instrumental in determining journal impact factors and visualizing publication linkages to better understand scholarly networks [ 13 - 15 ]. Serving multiple purposes, it pinpoints seminal works and core literature, monitors the evolution of research trends, and assesses the impact of individual researchers and institutions.…”

“…So-called scientometrics is a branch discipline that applies mathematical methods such as mathematical statistics and computer technology to conduct quantitative analysis on the input (such as scientific researchers and research funds), output (such as the number of papers and citations) and process (such as the formation of information dissemination and communication networks) of scientific activities, and determine the laws of scientific activities. 12…”

By drawing and visualising the structure and dynamics of the research field, we can obtain the most important topics and scientific literature from the massive literature, identify the most important and critical effective information, clarify the past and present research contexts, and determine the most active research frontiers and development trends.…”
