WstępMenopauza występuje u kobiet ok. 50. roku ży-cia i jest uważana za fizjologiczny etap życia związa-ny z osłabieniem funkcji hormonalnej jajników. Okres przekwitania prowadzi do zaburzeń metabolicznych i funkcjonalnych poszczególnych narządów i układów. Dobrze znane są objawy w postaci uderzeń gorąca, zaburzeń snu, dolegliwości moczowo-płciowych, osteoporozy i większego ryzyka chorób sercowo-naczyniowych. Źródłem skarg może być także krtań. Zachowanie dobrej jakości głosu w tym okresie jest bardzo ważne dla wielu kobiet, zwłaszcza dla jego profesjonalnych użytkowniczek, dlatego w coraz liczniejszych pracach próbuje się ocenić wpływ przekwitania na narząd gło-su oraz możliwość zapobiegania występującym w tym okresie zmianom przez zastosowanie hormonalnej terapii zastępczej (HTZ) [1][2][3][4][5]. Narząd głosu i metody jego ocenyGłos jest dynamicznym zjawiskiem akustycznym, któ re potrzebuje skoordynowanego współdziałania czynników neuromięśniowych, korowych, hormonalnych i innych. W tworzeniu głosu udział biorą fałdy Streszczenie U kobiet narząd głosu w ciągu całego życia podlega wpływom hormonalnym, które rozpoczynają się w okresie pokwitania, następnie zmieniają się systematycznie w okresie reprodukcyjnym wraz z cyklem miesiączko-wym, w okresie ciąży i ponownie w okresie przekwitania i starzenia się. W okresie menopauzy występują zmiany zanikowe fałdów głosowych, mięśnia głosowego i narządu artykulacyjnego. Dochodzi do maskulinizacji głosu, co przejawia się jego męczliwością, obniżeniem i zawężeniem zakresu z utratą wysokich tonów oraz zmniejszeniem siły głosu. Hormonalna terapia zastępcza (HTZ), suplementacja witamin i rehabilitacja głosu mogą być pomocne w zachowaniu jego dobrej jakości, co jest bardzo ważne dla wielu kobiet, zwłaszcza profesjonalnych użytkowniczek głosu. Zmiana głosu w okresie menopauzy powinna być wskazaniem do badania foniatrycznego dla poprawy jakości życia pacjentek.Słowa kluczowe: menopauza, krtań, głos. SummaryIn women the voice organ is influenced by sex hormones throughout the span of life. It starts from puberty, changes systematically in the reproductive period with the menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, in menopause and ageing. The atrophy of vocal cords, vocal muscles and articulatory apparatus occurs in menopause. The menopausal vocal syndrome is due to masculinization and is characterized by voice fatigue, lowered intensity and pitch with a decreased frequency range and loss of the high tones. Hormonal replacement therapy, vitamin supplementation and voice rehabilitation are useful in preserving good quality of voice in menopause, which is very important to many women, especially professional voice users. Voice alterations during menopause should indicate the necessity of phoniatric examination in supporting patients' quality of life.

Aerodynamic Assessment of Young Women’s Voices as a Function of Oral Contraceptive Use

Objective: To examine possible differences in glottal airflow parameters according to oral contraceptive (OC) use. Subjects and Methods: The participants included 16 women, 20–24 years of age. Eight women were taking a triphasic OC; the remaining 8 women were not taking any form of oral contraception (NOC). All participants were recorded on days 7 and 14 of their menstrual cycle. Three repetitions of the sustained vowel /a/ were obtained using a circumferentially vented respiratory face mask connected to a wide-band pressure transducer. Measures of peak flow, minimum flow, alternating flow, fundamental frequency (F₀) and relative sound pressure level were obtained. Results: A multivariate analysis of variance with sound pressure level as a covariate revealed no significant effect of day of recording upon the dependent measures. As a group, the OC women exhibited significantly higher F₀, peak and alternating flow rates compared to the NOC women. Removal of data outliers from the OC women resulted in similar airflow rates for both groups. Conclusion: The findings from this preliminary study did not support the use of glottal airflow measures to distinguish OC women from NOC women. Differences in F₀ findings may reflect hormonally mediated changes in laryngeal tissue and warrant further investigation.
