The Impact of Government Integrity on Investment Efficiency in Regional Transportation Infrastructure in China

Abstract: This paper examines the efficiency of China’s transportation infrastructure investment to explain regional differences in efficiency on the basis of government integrity. First, we used a three-stage DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model to eliminate the influence of environmental factors and statistical noise and measured the investment efficiency of transportation infrastructure in 31 provinces of China from 2007 to 2017. In addition, we used a truncated regression to calculate the efficiency of infrastructu… Show more

“…Firstly, regarding the impact of entrepreneurship on economic growth, we consider the various indicators making up each of the three dimensions. Hence, in the case of normative pillar, government integrity index (govint) has been empirically documented to drive investment efficiency (Liu & Luo, 2019). Consequently, we hypothesize a positive relationship between government integrity index and economic growth; thus, italicgdppcgovint>0.…”

“…However, on most occasions, the long duration of enterprises in technological innovation activities makes it difficult for managers to produce economic benefits during their term of office, which seriously affects the political performance of local government officials during the term of office (Liu and Luo, 2019 ). Former officials rose to the challenge of motivating enterprises to carry out technical innovation.…”

“…The energy efficiencies of the land transportation are not only affected by inputs and outputs of the whole production system, but also influenced by external factors, such as environmental factors and statistical noise. Following the previous researches [60][61], per capita GDP and industrial structure are selected as exterior environmental factors that have an impact on energy efficiency of land transportation. Per capita GDP can reflect the economic disparities between different provinces.…”
