The Impact of Different Attentional Focus Strategies During Modeling on the Acquisition and Retention of Free Throws in Basketball

Abstract: Background: In recent years, coaches and athletes have increasingly used observation as a tool for teaching and learning sports skills. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of modeling, using internal and external attentional focus strategies, on the acquisition and retention of free throw shooting in basketball. Methods: Forty-five female beginner basketball players (aged 21.62 ± 3.08 years, with a BMI of 23.48 ± 0.99 kg/m2) voluntarily participated in this study. Based on their pre… Show more

“…According to researchers, success in the implementation and learning of skills depends on a number of factors, including arousal and the conditions that govern it (5). The conditions that govern arousal are considered to be among the most important factors in the implementation of skills (6). In recent years, researchers have been increasingly interested in the role of environmental factors in the implementation and learning of motor skills (6,7).…”

In recent years, researchers have been increasingly interested in the role of environmental factors in the implementation and learning of motor skills (6,7). Music is one such environmental factor, and there is a significant theoretical basis for understanding how different types of music can affect different people and different tasks (8).…”
