The technological process of forming the double-corrugated structures of the K-span system causes deep transverse embossing on the surface of the profiles. Such profile geometry makes it difficult to apply classical theories related to plastic failure mechanisms to identify the formation of local instabilities. This article presents an original method for the prediction of local instabilities of double-corrugated structures. The method was developed on the basis of a hierarchical validated FEM model. The geometrically and materially nonlinear analysis method was adopted to perform numerical calculations. The results of calculations enabled the determination of reference equilibrium paths for the eccentrically compressed shell element. Based on the analysis of nonlinear equilibrium paths, a method for predicting the beginning and the end of the appearance of local instabilities in the elastoplastic pre-buckling range was developed.

The abandonment of renovation works is an extremely important factor causing degradation of the building. Omission of repairs may lead to a threat to the stability of the building’s structure, threaten the lives of users, further damage to the building by damaging further elements. The aim of this article is to analyze the consequences of abandoning renovation works in order to minimize the occurrence of construction failures in the future. The article presents problems related to the abandonment of repair works of damaged elements. A classification of the effects of abandonment of repairs for historic buildings has been worked out. Industrial heritage buildings were often not used for a long time, and the lack of maintenance very often caused their partial or even complete destruction. The progressive degradation of buildings is mainly the result of human negligence, lack of effective, and continuous maintenance. The problem of abandonment of repairs is presented on the example of the granary in Krosno Odrzańskie.

Gypsum is a material that has been widely used since ancient times in building and industrial construction. Due to the great development of prefabricated construction in the last years, diverse authors have tried to improve the properties of plaster panels and boards through its composition variations. The aim of this study is to determine what type of fibre, among the most used in plaster mixing ones, presents better properties to be used in prefabricated elements. For this, five types of fibres were used: two natural (wood and straw) and thee synthetic (glass, basalt and polypropylene), performing all the tests according to the standard UNE-EN 132792:2006. The conclusions show after statistical analysis that fiberglass presents better results for its application in the production of gypsum prefabricated panels and boards. Key words: gypsum-based composite, natural fibre, synthetic fibre, prefabricated.
