“…Protein structure analysis suggested that SH3BGRL3 lacks the SH2 domain (10,(26)(27)(28)(29) in directly binding to phosphorylated residues of EGFR. This result implies that SH3BGRL3 might indirectly interact with phosphorylated EGFR through other adaptor proteins.…”

“…The crystal and NMR structures of SH3BGRL3 have been described in an earlier work (9). The amino acid sequence of SH3BGRL3 belongs to the thioredoxin superfamily and is highly similar to Escherichia coli GRX1 (10), an enzyme with oxidoreductase activity. Although SH3BGRL3 protein is homologous to Nterminal region of the SH3BGR protein (10,11), it lacks the conserved SH3-binding motif, implying that it has a different function to those of other subfamily members.…”

“…SH3 domain-binding glutamic acid-rich-like protein belongs to a new family of highly conserved small proteins related to thioredoxin superfamily which is involved in the control of redox dependent processes (Mazzocco et al, 2002). The structural features of alpha-crystallin B suggest that this protein is a small stress protein related to small heat shock protein family, while the 78 kDa glucose regulated protein is another stress protein belonging to the 70 kDa heat shock protein family.…”

“…In relation to the SH3BGRL2 (SH3 Domain Binding Glutamate-Rich Protein) gene located at SSC1 (Table 1), Mazzocco et al (2002) mentioned that some proteins that are coded from this gene are highly homologous to the N-terminal region of the SH3BGR protein and appear to be related to thioredoxin, one of whose functions may be to promote the growth hormone in tissue-culture cells. In the context of growth related genes, several studies have found significant QTL affecting the weight and feed efficient traits in this same region of the SH3B-GRL2 gene.…”
