The hyperfine structure of83209Bi82+

Abstract: The hyperfine structure splitting of the ground state of hydrogen-like 209Bi is calculated for an extended nuclear charge distribution. The probability density of the odd proton in 209Bi is taken into account explicitly in order to compute the effect of an extended magnetization distribution on the energy splitting. The probability density of the odd proton is deduced from a mean-field model and the magnetization correction is evaluated within the Bohr-Weisskopf formalism. The authors obtained a transition wav… Show more

“…Recently, much interest has been paid to the magnetic hyperfine structure (hfs) for various nuclear isotopes [1,2,3,4,5,6]. For the experimental side, there is some progress in observing the transition of the hyperfine levels for atomic ground states.…”

“…The calculation results presented in [100,101] completed the evaluation of the perhaps most difficult and time-consuming part of two-loop corrections. Results for the set of two-loop VP corrections were provided earlier: the contribution VPVP (d) was evaluated in [103] for few heavy H-like ions and extended to larger numbers of Z in [104]; the corrections VPVP (e),(f) were calculated in [105,106] in the Uehling approximation; later VPVP (e) contribution was obtained in all orders in α Z [107]; the SEVP (g)-(i) contributions were evaluated in the Uehling approximation in [108] and in the exact form in [109]. The SEVP (j) graph has been calculated up to now only within the Uehling approximation [109,102].…”

“…A variety of QED perturbation theory methods were applied to evaluate the VP correction [106,[199][200][201][202][203] and SE correction [109,200,204,202,203]. In [199,205] the transition time between the ground-state HFS components in HCI was calculated.…”

“…newed interest [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Experimentally, this situation may well be due to recent technical progresses which enable to carry out precision measurements of the hyperfine splitting.…”
