The hybrid librarian: the affinity of collection management with technical services and the organizational benefits of an individualized assignment

Abstract: Collection management and technical services have a natural affi nity that is not refl ected in the organization of many academic libraries, where subject librarians are oft en aligned with reference. This article examines organizational and individual approaches to librarian assignment, along with the place of collection management in the organization.
