The aim of this paper is to investigate the mediating effect of opportunity confidence (OC) on the relationship between social norms (SNs) and decision to engage in entrepreneurial action (EA). The sample size includes prospective entrepreneurs engaged in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in science and technology parks in Iran. This research uses the longitudinal survey method. Research findings from the structural equation modeling (SEM) do not confirm the mediating role of OC. However, SNs have a significant positive effect on OC, which increases the likelihood of entrepreneurial action. The paper ends with a discussion of results and practical implications.

Garut is not only well-known as the city of dodol, but also as the city of the barbers. Most barbermen in Indonesia come from Garut, precisely from a village named Kampung Parung, Banyuresmi Subdistrict. Usually, upon completion of high schools, they go to big cities to open barbershops instead of going to universities. This has been a well-established entrepreneurial culture in that village for decades. The purpose of this study is to identify how this long entrepreneurial culture is established. To this end, a survey was addressed to 120 barbermen. The results show that family plays an important role in establishment of entrepreneurial culture in the village in question. Education is not much of importance to them.

El objetivo de este artículo es evaluar el ecosistema emprendedor en Costa Rica al segundo semestre de 2018. La metodología se basa en un análisis integrado de cinco modelos diferentes de valoración y clasificación de ecosistemas emprendedores. Esos cinco modelos juntos contienen sesenta y seis variables, las cuales son armonizadas mediante ocho grandes categorías. Los resultados muestran algunos aspectos negativos del ecosistema emprendedor como el financiamiento y la investigación y desarrollo, así como otros medianamente positivos como la infraestructura. En los resultados se aporta además una serie de oportunidades de mejora en lo referente a la coordinación de sus actores y la generación de acciones para fortalecer los componentes más débiles. El trabajo aporta originalidad al evaluar de forma integrada cinco modelos diferentes, aunque posee como limitación que los datos disponibles en cada modelo son de diferentes momentos en el tiempo. Se concluye que el ecosistema emprendedor costarricense posee en términos generales un estado regular (2.03 en escala de 1 a 5).
