“…Despite the measurement of high levels of expression of the GST system, its involvement in permethrin resistance in Aedes aegypti was precluded because pyrethroids were unlikely to constitute a GST substrate (Grant and Matsumura, 1989). Genes encoding for detoxifying enzymes are thought to be coordinately regulated by a single major locus that generate the resistant phenotype (Plapp, 1984). Such an assertion supports the results of Grant and Matsumura (1989), considering (1) the GST system as one of the several loci controlled by a major single locus, on the one October 2002 hand, and (2) close genetic linkages between metabolic resistance mechanisms on the other hand.…”
