The Fiber-Optic Sensor for the Museum Collections Protection

Abstract: The article describes the operation's rule of the ber optic sensor in the modalmetric conguration. This type of sensor is described by comparatively simple construction, while retaining other features of ber-optic sensors such as high sensitivity. This gives a very high potential application. In the paper possible application of the modalmetric sensor to protection of works of art and museum collections is presented. The advantage of its use is the ability to tie the ber in structure of material. Moreover, the… Show more

“…Interestingly, all of their recent work focuses on a security system based on intermodal interference or modalmetric detection, as they now refer to it [45]- [47]. The technique is almost identical to the earlier work on intermodal interference except they have performed a much more detailed analysis of the integrity of the system.…”

“…Light from the source is introduced to the multimode fiber core by section of the single-mode optical fiber (SM) (2) and an optical circulator (3). Multimode fiber (4) (measurement/sensing arm) MM is ended with reflecting surface (5). The part of the radiation reflected from the mirror goes through the circulator to the detector (7) throughout a single mode fiber (6).…”
