“…Aromaa, Sillanpa ¨a ¨, Rautava, and Helenius (2000) demonstrated in a sample of 96 children with primary headache that children suffering from tensiontype headache (TTH) lived in a psychosocially poorer family environment; the family atmosphere was more often described as unhappy, and the relationship between the parents was more frequently rated to be distant than in families of children suffering from migraines. Osterhaus (1999) developed an instrument for the assessment of a child's emotional expression within the family: the Familial Emotional Expression Scale for Children and Adolescents. Applying this instrument, she was able to show that young headache patients (n ϭ 101) express their worries and feelings of sadness within their family significantly less often than healthy controls (n ϭ 356).…”
