Microservice architecture style has been gaining wide impetus in the software engineering industry. Researchers and practitioners have adopted the microservices concepts into several application domains such as the internet of things, cloud computing, service computing, and healthcare. Applications developed in alignment with the microservices principles require an underlying platform with management capabilities to coordinate the different microservice units and ensure that the application functionalities are delivered to the user. A multitude of approaches has been proposed for the various tasks in microservices-based systems. However, since the field is relatively young, there is a need to organize the different research works. In this study, we present a comprehensive review of the research approaches directed toward microservice architectures and propose a multilevel taxonomy to categorize the existing research. The study also discusses the different distributed computing paradigms employing microservices and identifies the open research challenges in the domain.

Abstract-MicroserviceArchitecture (MSA) is an architectural design pattern which was introduced to solve the challenges involved in achieving the horizontal scalability, high availability, modularity and infrastructure agility for the traditional monolithic applications. Though MSA comes with a large set of benefits, it is challenging to design isolated services using independent Database per Service pattern. We observed that with each micro service having its own database, when transactions span across multiple services, it becomes challenging to ensure data consistency across databases, particularly in case of roll backs. In case of monolithic applications using RDBMS databases, these distributed transactions and roll backs can be handled efficiently using 2 phase commit techniques. These techniques cannot be applied for isolated No-SQL databases in micro services. This research paper aims to address three things: 1) elucidate the challenges with distributed transactions and rollbacks in isolated No-SQL databases with dependent collections in MSA, 2) examine the application of event choreography and orchestration techniques for the Saga pattern implementation, and 3) present the fact-based recommendations on the saga pattern implementations for the use cases.

В последнее время система виртуального музея становится популярной, многие музейные учреждения создают свою политику цифрового сохранения музейных данных, разрабатывают онлайн-сайты, демонстрируют виртуальные коллекции и создают выставки в различных СМИ, создавая тем самым новую форму представления и изучения музейной информации. Вместе с этим феномен цифровой трансформации предоставляет гораздо больше доступной информации, чем прежде, что порождает новые проблемы. Одна из них-помочь обычным посетителям виртуального музея с определением, где находится лучшая информация, которая им действительно необходима. Другая-развитие музейных онлайн-магазинов, которые могут стать для бизнеса новым рынком продаж продуктов, связанных с музейным контекстом. Для решения данных проблем автор разработал и внедрил автоматизированную систему управления тематическими виртуальными музеями (АСУ ТВМ), которая имеет универсальную конвертацию любых цифровых музейных данных, собственную индексную структуру, микросервисы и программные компоненты тематического моделирования. В данной работе приведены результаты работы АСУ ТВМ и ее качественной оценки 111 респондентами, где эксперимент показал, что среднее время отклика запросов по четырем основным компонентам АСУ ТВМ составляло 7 мс, что соответствует критериям времени отклика или задержки в микросервисах. Большая часть опрошенных респондентов по восьми основным параметрам качества системы ТВМ (51,61 %) согласны с высоким качеством системы, 36.23 % респондентов полностью согласны. Суммарная оценка по четырем категориям параметров показала 49,39 % согласных и 38,75 % полностью согласных пользователей, что в целом указывает на высокий уровень согласованности оценки со стороны респондентов разработанной автором АСУ ТВМ.
