Incest is traditionally defined as any sexual activity between family members who are forbidden to marry by law. The inability of apply contemporary interview techniques to the victims and the fact that the family members do not cooperate due to intimacy of the event, make it difficult to determine the actual prevalence of incest cases. In this study, the aim was to determine the prevalence and evaluate characteristics of incest cases. We examined the sexual crime cases have sent to forensic units in 4 years between 2013-2016. Demographic data and the relationship between the victims and defendants were evaluated. The Statistical Package for social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 was used to analyze the data. There were 737 sexual crime cases and 57 of them (7.7%) were incest cases. Among these, 15.8% (n=9) of the victims were men and 84.2% (n=48) were women. The average age of victims was 15.3 ± 5.43. We determined that the defendant was mostly the father (n=24, 42.1%). The penetration rate was 33.3% (n=19). Because of late notification and incidental recognition, physical examination findings usually are not detectable. Increasing the education and sensitivity of the individuals who can encounter with these cases like medical staff, teachers, etc. is an important process in the protection of children and their acceptance by society.

Ensest, kanunlar tarafından evlenmesi yasaklanmış aile üyeleri ve akrabalık ilişkilerini de içeren yakın kan bağı olan kişiler arasındaki cinsel aktivite olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Çocuğun cinsel istismarının bir çeşidi olan ensest konusunda Türkiye'de az sayıda çalışma bulunması nedeniyle Zonguldak ilinde ensest olayının özelliklerini anlayabilmek amacıyla Mahkeme veya Savcılıklardan Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi (BEÜ) Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi'ne gön-derilen olgular sosyo demografik olarak değerlendirilmiştir.Gereç ve Yöntem: BEÜ Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi Adli Tıp Polikliniği'ne Temmuz 2010-Haziran 2014 tarihleri arasında adli rapor düzenlenmesi amacıyla gönderilen ensest olgularında yaş, cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, saldırı-istismar tipi ve sıklığı, zeka düzeyi, psikiyatrik muayene bulguları ve saldırganla akrabalık derecesi retrospektif olarak incelenmiştir.Bulgular: BEÜ Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi Adli Tıp Polikliniği'ne ensest olgu olarak gönderilen 3-38 yaşları arasındaki olguların 38'i kadın, 1'i erkek olmak üzere toplam 39 olgudan oluşmaktadır. Enseste maruz kalmış olgular eğitim açısından incelendiğinde 10 tanesinin 7 yaşından küçük olması nedeniyle henüz okula başlamadığı, 2 tanesinin yaşının büyüklüğüne rağmen okula hiç gönderilmedikleri, ilköğretim sonrası devam etmeyen olgu sayısının ise 6 kişi olduğu gözlenmiştir.Sonuç: Tüm toplumu sağlık, eğitim, sosyal, ekonomik ve politik yönden ilgilendiren ve çözümü için de tüm bu alanları kapsayacak şekilde multidisipliner yaklaşım gerektiren ensest olaylarını önlemek için kısa, orta ve uzun dönemde, bölgesel ve tüm ülke ça-pında hazırlanacak planlarla önlemler alarak ensest olguları en aza indirebilir ve hatta ortadan kaldırabilir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Ensest; Çocuk istismarı; Cinsel istismar; Aile içi şiddet; Adli tıp. AbstractObjective: Incest is defined as sexual activity between people with close blood ties including family members and kinship who are prohibited by law. There are few studies in Turkey about incest which is a kind of child sexual abuse. In order to understand the characteristics of incest in Zonguldak, cases who are sent to BEU (Bulent Ecevit University) Hospital of Medical Faculty by courts or prosecution offices were evaluated as socio-demographic. Materials and Methods:The cases were sent to the polyclinic of Forensic Medicine of the Hospital in order to be given reports between July 2010 and June 2014. The cases were investigated retrospectively with regards to age, gender, education level, abuse type, the level of intelligence, the findings of psychiatric examinations and the degree of kinship with attacker.Results: The cases among 3-38 years of ages consist of a total of 39 cases, 38 female and 1 male.
