ABSTRACT.Precise Point Positioning (PPP) technique as an absolute positioning method requires modeling of effects that influence observations. One of the effects is a displacement of the measurement location due to ocean mass gravitational attraction -ocean tides loading (OTL). The model recommended by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) is FES2004. The paper focuses on impact of applying the particular OTL model on PPP processing. The analysis is based on processing of observations from 24 globally distributed permanent stations and time span of 50 days. The analysis bases on processing intervals from 1 to 24 hours. In addition, the amplitudes of the loads in Poland are evaluated. The OTL model is location dependent, thus the importance of applying this model depends on the location environment. As the PPP is an absolute method, the loads cumulate and transfer nearly directly to the positioning solution. Consequently, for short observation intervals and small loads the application of the model does not play an important role. For the analysed station with high amplitudes of the loads the relative and absolute improvement, of the solution was the highest for height component. By applying the model, the solution improved by 19% or 7.3 mm (as for RMS and 8 hour interval). The distinct improvement for convergence exists for vertical component and threshold below 5 cm. For Poland the vertical component loads were about 5 times smaller and the highest improvement for the analysed station was 3.7% for 4 hour interval and vertical component.

The current work presents the issue of determining the position of the observer using measurements registered with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers that Android mobile devices are equipped with. The discussed questions concern using GNSS measurement data, which have been made available in the Android system since version 7.0. The present paper has the character of a review. It demonstrates how measurement data can be obtained via Application Programming Interface. Moreover, it discusses the available software that can be for registering measurements and their initial analysis. Subsequently, it reviews scientific works concerning the problem of positioning with the use of smartphones. Special emphasis was placed on tests consisting in an analysis of phase observations registered using dual-frequency receivers. The summary of the article presents the prospects for using mobile devices in precise point positioning. It also points out the limitations to achieving high accuracy and reliability of such measurements.

The real-time precise point positioning (RT PPP) technique has attracted increasing attention due to its high-accuracy and real-time performance. However, a considerable initialization time, normally a few hours, is required in order to achieve the proper convergence of the real-valued ambiguities and other estimate parameters. The RT PPP convergence time may be reduced by combining quad-constellation global navigation satellite system (GNSS), or by using RT ionospheric products to constrain the ionosphere delay. But to improve the performance of convergence and achieve the best positioning solutions in the whole data processing, proper and precise variances of the observations and ionospheric constraints are important, since they involve the processing of measurements of different types and with different accuracy. To address this issue, a weighting approach is proposed by a combination of the weight factors searching algorithm and a moving-window average filter. In this approach, the variances of ionospheric constraints are adjusted dynamically according to the principle that the sum of the quadratic forms of weighted residuals is the minimum, and the filter is applied to combine all epoch-by-epoch weight factors within a time window. To evaluate the proposed approach, datasets from 31 Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) stations during the period of DOY (day of year) 023-054 in 2018 are analyzed with different positioning modes and different data processing methods. Experimental results show that the new weighting approach can significantly improve the convergence performance, and that the maximum improvement rate reaches 35.9% in comparison to the traditional method of priori variance in the static dual-frequency positioning mode. In terms of the RMS (Root Mean Square) statistics of positioning errors calculated by the new method after filter convergence, the same accuracy level as that of RT PPP without constraints can be achieved.
