The purpose of this study paper is to examine the potential for increasing the efficiency of solar water heaters by using novel design ideas. A qualitative examination of previously published material is combined with the development of a computer-aided design (CAD) model of a solar water heater using the SolidWorks as part of this research project, which uses a mixed-methods approach. The qualitative study draws attention to the relevance of design factors, materials, and combinations in optimizing the collection and use of energy. The CAD model provides a graphical representation of the suggested design adjustments and demonstrates how the overall performance may be enhanced. The results highlight the significance of inter-disciplinary cooperation, consumer awareness, and legislative assistance in order to encourage the adoption of improved designs for solar water heaters. The paper comes to a close by providing some ideas for testing in the real world, continuing research, and incorporating inventive design into the process of promoting sustainable energy practices.

By 2050, the European Commission aims to achieve a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions within the construction sector due to new targets set for greenhouse gases by the Commission. One of the most effective solutions for mitigating the environmental impact of buildings is to integrate renewable-energy systems such as air-to-water heat pumps or geothermal heat pumps. Several works in the literature investigated the advantages of heat pumps, particularly ground source heat pumps, for specific contexts. Furthermore, the evaluation can encompass not only energy considerations but also exergetic aspects, and this paper makes a significant contribution to the latter. The study presented here applies exergy analysis to a geothermal heat pump system that is interconnected with photo-voltaic and solar collector systems in a building located in Rome. Feasibility and environmental assessments were also conducted. It is evident that the exergy efficiency obtained is much lower than the energy efficiency. The heat pump demonstrates higher exergy efficiency by producing high-temperature thermal power compared to a constant dead state at relatively low temperatures. Following the heat pump, the adiabatic mixer exhibits the second highest exergy efficiency, trailed by two heat exchangers. Compared to a conventional plant case, the money saved is EUR 16,772 per year, translating to a Payback Period of 23 years. Furthermore, the average annual reduction in fossil fuel emissions is estimated at 26.2 metric tons of CO2.

This paper looks at the topic of high-tech solar water heating systems being incorporated into existing building energy infrastructure. Hybrid systems that use solar water heating in conjunction with other renewable energy sources are also discussed, as are technical developments in collector designs, the use of cutting-edge control and monitoring systems, and the like. Reduced carbon emissions and optimized resource utilization are only two of the environmental advantages highlighted in the report. It also emphasizes the need of precise system sizing and regional life cycle assessments (LCAs) in achieving maximum energy efficiency. The paper highlights knowledge gaps in the areas of performance analysis, localized environmental impact studies, integration difficulties, and economic assessments. By filling up these spaces, it hopes to promote more eco-friendly and economical construction methods. Sustainable construction, energy savings, less of an influence on the environment, and new innovations in solar water heating are some of the terms that come to mind.
