Abstract: In selected patients with combined aortic arch and descending aortic aneurysms limited to the proximal descending aorta, the FET approach potentially allows for single-stage therapy, whereas a second-stage operation is inevitable with the classic ET approach. Moreover, owing to the availability of prefabricated, easy-to-use, FET, hybrid prostheses that result in significantly better outcomes in patients who have acute aortic dissection, type A, and if necessary, and provide an ideal "landing zone" for future e… Show more

“…The literature search identified 1,268 records, of which nine satisfied the inclusion criteria and definitions for hybrid versus traditional aortic arch surgery (6,7,(18)(19)(20)(28)(29)(30)(31) (study details in Table S1). Two studies were identified as high quality, three as intermediate quality and four as standard quality using the adapted scoring criteria.…”

“…Some surgeons use an endoscope to evaluate a distal landing zone during hypothermic circulatory arrest. 5) The use of an endoscope is effective for confirming the complete sealing of an aortic lesion by a stent graft after implantation. However, an endoscope cannot confirm the relationship between the thoracic aorta and vertebrae.…”
