The efficiency of a combined injection technique for sentinel lymph node mapping in intermediate‐high‐risk endometrial cancer

Abstract: Background and Objectives Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping was considered for treating endometrial cancer (EC) which was apparent confined to the uterus. Nevertheless, intermediate‐high‐risk EC patients have super high risk to undergo isolated para‐aortic lymph node metastases comparing with low‐risk patients. Therefore, this investigation aimed to compare the efficacy of two SLN methods in detecting para‐aortic lymph node metastases. Methods According to SLN mapping injection methods, intermediate‐high‐risk … Show more

“…Several reports exist on the application of sentinel node mapping, mainly by using ICG, for identifying para-aortic SLNs (PASLNs) in endometrial cancer ( 18 24 ). The detection rate of PASLNs in these studies varies between 14% and 86%, and one report differentiates between lower and upper PASLNs ( 19 ).…”

“…Mainly, robotically assisted fluorescence imaging has been used recently to identify pelvic SLNs (PESLNs). Several reports exist on its application for identifying para-aortic SLNs (PASLNs) in endometrial cancer ( 18 24 ). The detection rate of PASLNs in these studies, mainly after cervical injection of indocyanine green (ICG), varies between 14% and 86%, and one report differentiates between lower and upper PASLNs ( 19 ).…”

“…Most of those studies focused on investigating different tracers and different site of injection. Below are described the finding of the most representative studies on these issues [ 35 39 40 41 42 ]. Over the last decade, several tracers have been adopted for the identification of sentinel node during mapping procedures [ 35 39 40 41 42 ].…”

Over the last decade, several tracers have been adopted for the identification of sentinel node during mapping procedures [ 35 39 40 41 42 ]. Historically, radioisotope and blue dye were used for sentinel node mapping procedures [ 35 ].…”
