The Effects of UTAUT and Usability Qualities on Students’ Use of Learning Management Systems in Saudi Tertiary Education

Abstract: Aim/Purpose: This study proposes a theoretical framework that amalgamates Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) variables with usability metrics to investigate the impact on students’ intention and use of the Learning Management System (LMS) in Saudi higher education. Background: There is a dearth of academic research on Saudi higher education to examine the effects of usability factors on students use of LMSs, so significant issues have not yet been examined. Methodology: Based on surve… Show more

“…It was discovered that the technology’s performance is critical to lecturers’ perceptions, which has a favorable influence on satisfaction and continued usage of Blackboard. This discovery is consistent with findings from other research, including as Abu-Al-Aish and Love (2013) , Alshehri et al (2020) , Sultana (2020) , and Raza et al (2021) . Others, such as Šumak et al (2010) , disagree (2010).…”

“…As a result, this research looks into the overall usefulness of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) in such circumstance. In reality, the success of information systems like Blackboard is strongly reliant on how well end users embrace and perceive their benefits ( Bouznif, 2018 ; Alshehri et al, 2020 ; Sultana, 2020 ). This study focuses on art education at five Saudi Arabian universities’ faculties of education, with the aim of determining the usefulness of the UTAUT and TAM models in identifying lecturers’ pursuit of Blackboard usage in a face-to-face teaching and learning approach.…”

“…Likewise, the second hypothesis was accepted by the data, which confirmed the positive association between EE and ITOL (H2 supported). These results are in line with several scholars, i.e., Zawaideh (2017), Ali and Arshad (2018), Handoko (2019), andAlshehri et al (2020), who claimed the significant and positive linkages between EE and ITOL in the different contexts. The present study's findings may reflect that personal innovativeness and quality of service significantly affect the BI.…”

“…In contrast, EE has appeared with no impact on intention to use mobile learning (Ali & Arshad, 2018). By employing the UTAUT constructs, the findings of Alshehri et al (2020) confirm the UTAUT parameters as robust and valid, and robust in the context of LMS in Saudi Arabia in colleges and universities. Besides, the aspect of SI arisen to affect the students' usage behaviour and intention significantly.…”

“…The acceptance of information technology based on an integrated meta-analysis of artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the behavioral intentions of users of customer relationship management (CRM) organizations through a study of the activities of online media providers that have an impact on user satisfaction has been carried out in research [14]. Acceptance of technology on the usefulness of e-learning, social, and organizational factors influence the intentions and behavior of users of information systems [15]- [17]. The structure of the assessment model as a general research framework through the design science paradigm approach in the IS research framework from other models such as unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) can be a reference for new methodologies [18].…”
