The Effects of Pretreatment Factors on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Anise (Pimpinella Anisum L.)

Abstract: Seed dormancy is one of the major problems in agricultural studies, especially for medicinal plants. Anise (Pimpinella anisum L.)is an important economic medicinal plant with dormant seeds and distributed only in its natural habitats. An experiment was conducted as a Factorial layout within a completely randomized design with four replications to evaluate the effects of some pretreatment factors on primary growth and germination characteristics of anise.Pre-chilling treatments were 0, 15, 30 and 45 days treatm… Show more

“…Not only natural products, but also traditional medicines have great importance [1][2][3]. Traditional medicine contains health practices, knowledge, approaches and beliefs incorporating plants, fruits and herbs based on both ancient and modern pharmaceutical science [4][5][6][7]. Traditional Asian and Chinese medicine play a significant role in sustainable food systems, it is also offers a notable approach to prevent diseases while making suitable usage of organic and herbal products [8][9][10][11].…”

“…Currently, many studies have addressed growth parameters to increase the productivity of this useful species. They addressed the germination of seeds, the growth of seedlings, and their impact on the quality, Content, and Chemical Composition [ 3 , 5 , 15 ]. The cultivation of this plant aims to respond to increasing agronomic and industrial uses.…”

“…The seed germination, growth, development and spatial distribution of plants are severely restricted by a variety of environmental stresses Ogbaji et al, 2013;Shahrajabian et al, 2018;Safdar et al, 2019;Shahrajabian et al, 2019a;Shahrajabian et al, 2019b;Shahrajabian et al, 2019c;Shahrajabian et al, 2019d). Drought stress influence the plants in a similar way; reduced water potential is a common consequence of salinity and drought, and both are harmful during early stages of germination and seedling growth Amini et al, 2012;Shahrajabian et al, 2013;Soleymani and Shahrajabian, 2013;Soleymani and Shahrajabian, 2017).…”
