The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of developing and using a model to predict dengue risk in villages and of a larval indices surveillance system for 2372 households in 10 Thai villages. A community participatory action research method was used in five steps: (1) community preparation covering all stakeholders, (2) assessment of the understanding of a dengue solution and a larval indices surveillance system, (3) development of a prediction and intervention model for dengue risk villages, (4) implementation of the model that responds to all stakeholders, and (5) evaluation of the effects of using the model. The questionnaires to assess and evaluate were validated and reliability tested. The chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test were used to analyze the quantitative data collected by means of questionnaires. Thematic analysis was applied to the qualitative data collected through interviews. The results found that the model consisted of six main activities, including (1) setting team leader responsibility, (2) situation assessment, (3) prediction of the dengue risk in villages, (4) the six steps of the larval indices surveillance system, (5) the understanding of the dengue solution and the understanding of the larval indices surveillance system training program, and (6) local wisdom innovation. The effects of using the model showed a statistically significant increase in correct understanding among 932 family leaders, 109 village health volunteers, and 59 student leaders regarding dengue prevention and control (p < 0.05). The larval indices and dengue morbidity were diminished and related to the nine themes present in the community leaders’ reflections and to the satisfaction of the community members. Hence, local administrative organizations should use community-based approaches as the subdistrict dengue solution innovation to reduce the dengue problem.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between health promotion strategies and the MHP activities (Mask-wearing, Hand-washing and Physical Distancing). The design in this research is Cross Sectional. The population consists of people of productive age (15-59 years) after the December 2020 period totaling 2,738 people. The number of samples was 96 respondents who were taken by systematic random sampling. Data collection is done by using interviews. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire. The data were statistically analyzed using the Chi Square test at a significance level of 5% (0.05). The results of the statistical test showed that advocacy (p = 0.009), social support (p = 0.023) and community empowerment (p = 0.001) had a significant relationship with the MHP activities in Prajawinangun Wetan Village in 2021. The results of this study can be followed up by conducting counseling and counseling by health workers involving community leaders regarding the MHP activities including using masks, washing hands, maintaining distance regularly and conducting evaluations to ensure the continued application of MHP activities.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is still a health problem in Poso District. This can be seen from the high number of DHF cases and potential outbreaks from 2017 to 2018. The local government took the initiative to prevent DHF outbreaks in Poso Regency. The Central Sulawesi Provincial Health Office and the Poso Regency Health Office have implemented onehouse one-larvae observer program in the Poso Kota Selatan District area by engaging the local government and community. The implementation of the program and its accomplishments requires evaluation. This study aims to evaluate the one-house one-larvae observer program using input, process, output, and outcome indicators. The research adopts a descriptive-qualitative approach, employing observation and interviews within an evaluation research design. Data analysis was performed using interpretation and triangulation methods. Policy documents are available, and human resources supporting the program are in compliance with the decree. However, the budget for the program is insufficient, while the available infrastructure is sufficient. The process indicators demonstrate satisfactory progress. Based on outputs, there was an increase in achievement against the program target of the number of buildings inspected by house larvae observers over four years. The outcome indicator in the form of the larvae-free rate increased by >90% during one year of program implementation. The implementation of local innovations initiated by the Regency Health Office and stakeholders’ engagement has been proven to increase community participation in programs that impact the achievement of program outputs and outcomes.
