Indonesia is a mega biodiversity country with abundant macroalgae. The macroalgae are distributed along the coast and function to maintain the balance of the coastal marine ecosystem, including in Bama Beach, Baluran National Park, Situbondo, Indonesia. This study was to determine the abundance, distribution, and diversity of macroalgae in Bama Beach Baluran National Park, East Java, between April 2019 and June 2019. The research was conducted with a purposive sampling method at two stations, each consisting of five substations using transect blocks. Five species of macroalgae from the Phaeophyceae class (Padina australis, Sargassum aquifolium, Polycladia myrica, Eucheuma edule, and Dictyota pinnatifida), a Rhodophyta (Jania pumila), and Chlorophyta (Halimeda macroloba) were found in the study site. Padina australis was a species that had the highest abundance and dominated the observation station. Nonetheless, according to the Shannon-Weaver Index in the study area, overall macroalgae diversity was classified as a low category with a value of 0.35. The high availability of nutrients influences these conditions in ecosystems with the domination of Padina australis, followed by Sargassum aquifolium at Station I and II.

Seaweed (Caulerpa sp) is a marine biota whose growth is influenced by physical parameters. The purpose of this study was to analyze the dynamics of daily temporal changes in seawater temperature at several depth points and variations in the velocity and direction of ocean currents. Make simple mathematical modeling of ocean current velocity and daily dynamics of seawater temperature in the seaweed growth zone and outside the seaweed growth area. Temperature measurements are carried out on 4 depth variations using a current meter when the sun illuminates the ocean. Measurement of the velocity and direction of the current is carried out using a current measuring instrument during the full moon. The Fourier function or periodic function determines mathematical modeling. The results showed that the transect measurement of sea temperature for 4 depth variations experienced changes due to the intensity of solar irradiation. During one cycle, the speed and direction of the ocean currents change periodically, with the average flow velocity in the seaweed zone being 7.4 m/min and outside the Lahe region being 18.75 m/min directly to the southwest at seawater flows at high tide and northeast experiencing low tide. The daily temporal change in ocean current velocity for each measurement transect shows the same shape which is modeled according to the Fourier function.

Seaweed produced in Southeast Sulawesi Province is generally still marketed in the form of dried seaweed or has not been processed into finished products or semi-finished products in agroindustry. This condition makes the price of seaweed at the level of farmers is very unstable so that the increase in welfare for farmers and regional income is not realized. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of seaweed agroindustry investment that produces a carrageenan type of ATC (Alkali Treated Cottonii) in Southeast Sulawesi Province and design a feasibility development scenario. The feasibility of ATC agroindustry investment is analyzed by Net Present Value (NPV) Analysis, Net Benefit-Cost Ratio (NBCR), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Pay Back Period (PBP), Break-Even Point (BEP) and sensitivity analysis in various scenarios. The results showed that: (1) Seaweed Agroindustry in Southeast Sulawesi Province, which produces carrageenan type of ATC, is feasible to be developed because it has an NPV value of Rp.25,860,430,430,- NBCR 4.46, IRR 50.04 and PBP 1.90. Based on the results of sensitivity analysis on several scenarios of changes in agroindustry conditions, it is suggested that agroindustries must be able to maintain the stability of the selling price of ATC and the amount of production due to the changes that occur in these aspects have the most significant impact on agroindustry profits.
