Zakat is an instrument of Islamic economic and social funds that contributes to the achievement of people wellbeing. This study examines the business growth as a mediating variable on the relationship between the impact of the zakat empowerment programs and mustahiq's (zakat recipient) welfare. This quantitative study employs Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) analysis on 100 mustahiqs from different zakat empowerment programs in East Java and DI Yogyakarta. Zakat empowerment positively affects mustahiq's welfare. This indicates that the empowerment program successfully increases mustahiqs' wellbeing and their business. Business growth as a mediating variable on the relationship between business assistantship and mustahiq welfare also shows a positive and significant effect. Further, macroeconomic indicators consisting of GRDP and inflation and internal factors consisting of age and educational level, have different impacts on the business growth of mustahiq. This study confirms the zakat empowerment program's role in improving the mustahiq's welfare based on maqashid al-shariah (the Islamic objectives). Zakat community empowerment is a solution to suppress the poverty rate and possible for reducing inequality and ending poverty in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to find out how to manage zakat funds effectively in LAZ EL-ZAWA to increase community capacity. The method used by the researcher uses qualitative research and descriptive methods to describe the data obtained from the field, then draws conclusions from the research conducted. In this study, there are two sources of data used, namely, primary data and secondary data where primary data is generated through direct interviews with parties related to research (researchers) and secondary data is obtained from reading sources and various other sources. The result is that at LAZ EL-ZAWA there are two mechanisms used by el-zawa in collecting zakat funds, the first is a personal approach and an institutional approach. There are two objects for distributing productive zakat in el-zawa, the first at the community level by providing capital assistance to MSMEs The second need is to allocate productive zakat funds to students of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim by providing scholarships

E-Zakat: An Approach for Zakat Management to Eradicate Poverty

This paper has shown an online-based zakat management system named E-ZAKAT. Zakat is one of the main foundational goals of the world’s second-largest religion, Islam. So, it has indisputable importance for a country as well as the world economy and poverty eradication. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people have become habituated with the online system due to unavoidable situations, such as education and commodity market has now turned into online systems. However, an online base zakat management system for both donors and seekers has not prevailed widely. Here in this proposed system, the donor can calculate, donate their zakat, and the seeker can apply to receive it. Instead of providing cash, business or agricultural help is planned to ensure the economic stability of a low-income family. For this purpose, the expectant can claim support for green farming, agricultural equipment, or money to start a small business after ensuring the required verification and qualification steps. The proposed dynamic web application E-ZAKAT will provide an easier and hassle-free system for zakat donors and seekers with an attractive design. As a result, proper utilization of our system could provide a positive impact to change our society as well as our world.
