Preservation, conservation, sustainable development, and quality of life should become part of everyday life for people worldwide. Chemistry teachers should discuss environmental issues with students directly and take the opportunity to promote emancipatory Environmental Education, enabling students to live in harmony with the environment. The first aim of this research is to investigate how Environmental Education in teaching chemistry can shape citizens who are critical of environmental issues. This type of qualitative research uses a participatory action research approach to describe reality and is more concerned with the process than the product. The methods used in collecting data are observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The instrument used in collecting data is a questionnaire. The technique used to analyze the information is descriptive qualitative analysis. The result of the research is that the students express their perceptions about the environment and how human actions disturb nature globally. Individual accountability is becoming an essential objective for promoting a new model of development, which many refer to as sustainable development. In short, it is also proved that the insertion of Environmental Education in Chemistry class is essential for education and the social environment. It is because environmental education provides training to students and the entire school community on the importance of knowing environmental preservation mechanisms.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) promotes the city of learning and lifelong learning. The UNESCO factors influencing the construction of Kalasin Learning City in Thailand. This framework is applied in the study on Kalasin learning city. This research analyzes the relationship between citizenship and learning city from 500 Kalasin citizens, who responded to a questionnaire based on citizenship factors affecting the UNESCO city of learning. Where statistical analysis of average standard deviation and Multiple regression analysis of 10 others asked to participate in the interview found that it promoted learning from primary to higher education. Strong support for a lifelong learning culture. It has a statistically significant positive impact on citizenship (group level) at .05, so the factors that need to promote promotion to improve citizenship (group level) are the promotion of learning from primary to higher education. The interview results also supported data from the questionnaire. The results suggest that building Kalasin learning city requires a common factor. That states the implications of the findings and identifies possible new research fields as developing online participation processes under the COVID-19 pandemic to align with the online learning model, which is also a modern learning model.

Environmental literacy has emerged as a paramount subject to be studied and ingrained in individuals in the 21st century due to the rising concerns over environmental problems. Hence, this research is aimed at analyzing the development of environmental literacy topics in the educational context in the 2001-2022 period to understand the development and potential of this research in the future. This study used the bibliometric analysis method with data sourced from Scopus. Out of 518 articles obtained, only 386 met the criteria for performance analysis and scientific mapping using Publish or Perish and VoSViewer software. The result showed that the development of environmental literacy in the educational context has increased both in terms of publication productivity and the number of citations. The United States, Indonesia, and Turkey contributed the most. Although overall the issues raised are still dominated by environmental literacy and environmental education, there has been a shift in the last three years. The result of this study indicates that the subject of environmental literacy within educational settings remains both compelling and pertinent for future exploration. These findings have implications for the urgency of expanding the scope of environmental literacy research in the educational context to issues that are still limited. Consequently, this study can serve as a roadmap for researchers to establish new research directions, enrich existing knowledge, and make a more substantial contribution to developing environmental literacy in educational contexts in the 21st century.
