The Effect of vermicompost and NPK fertilizer on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) growth

Abstract: Tomato is a plant of solanaceae family, has short stems, and grows well in tropical climates. Tomatoes have vegetative and generative growth phases. The availability of nutrients largely determines the vegetative growth phase. The purpose of the study is to determine: (1) the effect of vermicompost on tomato growth, (2) the effect of NPK fertilizer treatment on tomato growth, (3) the interaction effect of vermicompost and NPK fertilizer on tomato growth. The research was conducted using experimental methods. T… Show more

“…The element nitrogen plays an important role in the formation of green leaf substances used in the process of photosynthesis of plants. It can produce carbohydrates as food that will be used in the growth process [25]. Sufficient N, P, and K nutrients will stimulate overall growth such as stems and branches and be able to form broad leaf strands with high chlorophyll content so that the plant can produce enough assimilation to support its vegetative growth [26; 27].…”

“…Soaking using HCl obtained germination, the height of seedlings, and long roots with the maximum average. Strong acid solutions such as HCl are often used with varying concentrations depending on the seed needed, making the coat soft [16][17][18]. The administration of HCl given to sugar palm seeds caused a speedy increase in the percentage of germination growth [19][20].…”

“…After preparing the banana peel pulp food ingredients, it is continued with the maintenance of earthworms with the following stages: (1) preparation of research materials and tools, (2) making research sites with length x width = 5 m x 4 m fenced with woven bamboo and given a roof of zinc material, (3) making plots for rearing earthworms from precarious materials, each plot measuring 30 cm x 50 cm. ( 4) placing earthworms in each study site as many as 60 earthworms, which weights 54 grams, (5) feeding cow dung as much as 1000 ml per 10 days for every 60 earthworms, (6) feeding banana peel pulp according to the dose treatment, (7) keeping earthworms for 70 days, (7) measuring research parameters, (8) carrying out data analysis.…”
