Background: Poverty is estimated to increase a mother's chances of giving birth to a low birth weight baby (LBW). Objective: This study aimed to analyze the socioeconomic disparities of LBW in rural Indonesia.Methods: Mother aged 15-49 years old who had given birth in the last 5 years in rural Indonesia was used as the unit of analysis. With stratification and multistage random sampling found 19,283 mothers were sampled. The variables analyzed included LBW, socioeconomic, age, marital, education, employment, and antenatal care (ANC). The binary logistic regression test was used at the final stage to determine the existence of disparities.Results: The results show that the mother with the poorer wealth status was 0.686 times more likely than the poorest mother to give birth to an LBW baby. Mothers with middle wealth status were 0.688 times more likely than the poorest mothers to give birth to LBW babies. Mothers with richer wealth status were 0.621 times more likely than the poorest mothers to give birth to LBW babies. Finally, the richest mothers were 0.452 times more likely than the poorest mothers to give birth to LBW babies. The results of this analysis inform that the better the socioeconomic of mothers, the lower the likelihood of giving birth to LBW babies. Apart from socioeconomics, the analysis also found two other predictors of LBW in rural Indonesia, namely education level and ANC visits.Conclusion: It was concluded that there were socioeconomic disparities of LBW in rural Indonesia.

INTRODUCTION: Maternal mortality is still a problem in Indonesia. The current maternal mortality rate is 305 per 100.000 live births and is still far from the SDGs target, which is 70 per 100.000 live births in 2030. The direct causes of maternal death are related to maternal health conditions since pregnancy, while the indirect causes are related to social, economic conditions, behavior, community culture, and lifestyle. The purpose of this study was to develop a behavioral model based on transcultural care (sunrise model) and precede in caring for pregnant women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: It is an observational study, cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted from March to October 2021. The population in this study were all pregnant women who visited with a sample of several pregnant women in the working area of the Public Health Center of the Surabaya Health Service, Indonesia. The sample was determined using the rule of thumb formula, the sample size was 288 respondents and was selected by simple random sampling. The independent variables are Transcultural Care (technological factors, religion and philosophy of life, social and family attachments, cultural values and lifestyle, regulations and policies, economy, and education) and Precede (predisposing factors, supporting factors, and reinforcing factors). Inferential analysis was performed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. Path analysis model was performed on all latent variables, external model and internal model. RESULTS: Showed that the regularity of antenatal care was influenced by the factors of technology, religion and philosophy of life, social and family attachments, regulations and policies, education and the reinforcing factors. The accuracy of taking medication or vitamins in pregnant women was influenced by social and family attachments, cultural values and lifestyles, regulations and policies, economics, and the predisposing factors, enabling factors and reinfording factors. Diet in pregnant women was influenced by the factors of technology, social and family attachments, regulations and policies, predisposing factors, enabling factors and reinforcing factors. Monitoring of fetal movement in pregnant women was influenced by technological factors, predisposing factors and enabling factors. Activity patterns in pregnant women were influenced by the factors of religion and philosophy of life, cultural values and lifestyles, regulations and policies, education, enabling factors and reinforcing factors. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the Transcultur Care and Preced Methods are proven to be effective in improving maternal health behavior in caring for pregnancy.

BACKGROUND: Family food security and parenting are factors affecting changes in nutritional status related to family care and food availability. AIM: This study aims to analyze the factors affecting nutritional status in children aged 6–24 months in Lamongan Regency, Indonesia. METHODS: The study used cross-sectional data with 191 children aged 6–24 months and their parents, selected by simple random sampling. The data were collected through observations and interviews and used to assess the physical endurance and nutritional status based on the questionnaires, food frequency, observations, weight scales, and World Health Organization/National Center for Health Statistics reference standards. RESULTS: The results of the double linear regression test p = 0.000 indicated that the parenting coefficient had more influence on the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months than the family food security coefficient on the nutritional status of children in Lamongan Regency, with Y = 1.565 + 0.062 X1 + 0.446 X2, Y being nutritional status, 1.565 as the coefficient value, X1 (0.062) being family food security, and X2 (0.446), parenting. CONCLUSION: Better parenting improved the nutritional status of children aged 6–24 months compared to maintaining food security. Thus, parenting improvement programs could be prioritized through the Community Health Center.
