THE EFFECT OF pH ON PHOSPHATE ADSORPTION IN SOILS

Abstract: The correlation between pH and phosphate retention was not significant for a group of mixed soils, but a group of pedologically similar soils differing mainly in p H gave a highly significant (P = 0.001) decrease in retention with increasing pH. A similar decrease occurred for field plots of one soil adjusted to differing pH values many years ago, but liming soil from the most acid of these in the laboratory did not have the same effect in reducing phosphate retention as for the limed field plot at a similar p… Show more
