This study aimed to investigate the effect of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) from green tea extract on the push out bond strength of an epoxy resin sealer to root dentin. Seventy single root canal premolars were decoronated and instrumented. The roots were randomly irrigated with different final irrigation protocols (n=16): 17%EDTA (EDTA), 17%EDTA followed by 2.5%NaOCl (EDTA+NaOCl), 17%EDTA followed by 1 mg/mL EGCG (EDTA+EGCG) and 1 mg/mL EGCG (EGCG). Other six root canals were received only 2.5%NaOCl as a control group. One root from each group (n=1) was excluded and prepared for SEM investigation. All root canals were then obturated and horizontally sectioned to perform the push out test. EDTA+EGCG group had the highest bond strength (p<0.05). EGCG group showed higher bond strength than EDTA group (p<0.05). The use of EGCG as a final irrigant significantly increased the push out bond strength of an epoxy resin sealer to root dentin.

Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the influence of Proanthocyanidin (PA) application on bond strength of glass fiber posts to root canal dentin using self-etch adhesive luting system. Materials and Methods: Twenty single rooted mandibular premolars, freshly extracted for orthodontic purpose, were decoronated below the cementoenamel junction, and standardized to 14mm in length. Post space preparation was done upto No 3 Peeso reamer during which canals were irrigated with conventional irrigation protocol. Teeth were randomly divided into two groups (n=20 each) Group 1: Pre-treatment with PA and Group 2 served as the control group. Both Groups were restored with fiber posts bonded with RELYX U200 self-etch adhesive system. Teeth were then stored in distilled water for three months at 37° C. One mm slices were obtained and push-out bond strength testing was performed. Failure patterns were assessed under stereomicroscope at 20x magnification. Results: Individual bond strength values were calculated and statistically analysed with the chi-square test and independent-ttest. A statistically significant difference existed between the two Groups (p <0.001) with Group 1 showing a mean bond strength value greater than Group 2. Conclusion: Pretreatment with PA preserves the bond strength of fiber posts to root dentin bonded with a self-etch adhesive system. The results indicate that PA can be used as a biocompatible pretreatment alternative to improve bond strength stability of dentin-adhesive interfaces in root canals.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of grape seed extract (GSE) solution as dentin biomodification on microleakage between composite resin and dentin.Methods: A total of 52 dentin specimens were divided into two groups. Group 1 involved the application of GSE solution for 30 seconds after etching. Group 2 served as the control group. Results:The GSE solution group significantly increases microleakage between the composite resin and dentin compared to the control group. Conclusions:The application of GSE solution after etching can increase microleakage between composite resin and dentin.
