The effect of occasional smokers on the dynamics of a smoking model

Abstract: We present a non-linear mathematical model which analyzes the spread of smoking in a population. In this paper, the population is divided into …ve classes: potential smokers, occasional smokers, heavy smokers, temporary quitters and permanent quitters. We study the e¤ect of considering the class of occasional smokers and the impact of adding this class to the smoking model in [1] on the stability of its equilibria. Numerical results are also given to support our results.Mathematics Subject Classi…cation: 34D23… Show more

“…Amongst these, in 1997, C. Castillo-Garsow, G. Jordan-Salivia and A. Rodriguez-Herrera [3] consider a basic model of three ordinary nonlinear differential equations, which consider the use of drugs in general in adolescents and where the factors involved are contagion, recovery and relapse. In [7,4] a model of four nonlinear differential equations is constructed where groups of people are: potential smokers; smokers; and temporary or permanent ex-smokers. While in [1] a model of five nonlinear differential equations is formulated, distinguishing between to classes of smokers according the the frequency of consumption, high or low.…”

“…109 Tahun 2012 and advertisement to forbid smoking in general area, even increasing the price of cigarettes. On the other hands, there are researchers has been investigated about harmful effect and prevention of smoking, [1], [2], [4], [5], [7], [8], [14], [15], [16], and [17]. Verma and Agarwal [15], has analyzed mathematical model of smoking, that is PSQ models (P: Potential smokers, S: active smokers, Q: former smokers) and assumed the population were constant.…”
