Die Uberwachung des Verkehrs mit vitaminierter Margarine erfordert hinreichend genaue, fur Serienuntersuchungen geeignete Bestimmungsmethoden fur Vitamin A und D, wobei letzterer nur eine untergeordnete 'Bedeutung zukommt, ebenso wie der Bestimmung von p-Carotin, das allein zur Farbung der Margarine in niedrigen Konzentrationen Verwendung findet.
Es sind zahlreiche Arbeitsvorschriften fur die VitaminA-Bestirnmungi-l6 und vergleichende Untersuchungen iiber die verschiedenen Methoden l 7 in den letzten Jahren mitgeteilt worden, was schon die Schlufifolgerung nahelegt, daD diese nicht immer in jeder Weise den Bedurfnissen der Praxis genugen. Dies gilt sowohl fur die spektrographischen als auch fur die colorimetrischen Methoden, da sich nicht iiur bei der quantitativen Messung Fehlermoglichkeiten ergeben, sondern auch bei der immer notwendigen Abtrennung des Vitamin A aus der Margarine und der Reinigung der erhaltenen Liisung unkontrollierbare Vitamin A-Verluste eintreten.
Als colorimetrische Methode koinmt allein ,der Curr-Price-Reaktion praktische Bedeut'ung zu, unabhangig davon, in welcher Modifikation sie durchgefuhrt wird. Sie ist fur die Bestimmung des Vitamin A im Lebensrnittel im Vergleich zu den spektrophotometrischen und bioiogischen Methoden nicht nur einfacher, sondern auch spezifischer und zuverlassiger l7, lR.
