Character is a crucial aspect of living in society. Character building has been carried out in Indonesia from hundred years ago. The people have improved their way of life by adopting local culture's educational values, such as the Makassar-Buginese Siri’. However, in this era, there is a deterioration of student character as a result of losing Siri' cultural ideals that are rarely found in the field of education. The study aimed to explore the Makassar-Buginese Siri’ educational values as the foundation of character building. This study was designed as a qualitative study using the ethno-pedagogy approach. The data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results have revealed that the Makassar-Buginese Siri’ contains the following educational values: teppe (faith), pesse (compassion), lempuk (honesty, straightening deeds, and intentions), sipakatau (humanizing human), sipakalebbi (glorification of human), sipakainge (reminding each other), sipatokkong (mutual help and mutual support), tongeng (sincerity), reso (hard work), and abbulosibatang (collaboration). In conclusion, the Makassar-Buginese Siri’ educational values play a crucial role in character education to be integrated into the learning process to improve student character.

This article describes conservation and cultural perspectives from various disciplines based on research from various disciplines. The description is categorized into three parts; conservation and culture of applied science and health, conservation and culture of social science and humanity, conservation and culture of business and entrepreneurship. Natural sciences, health, social humanities, business, and entrepreneurship have all contributed to the conservation of natural resources and the environment, according to the results of journal article searches. Conservation in applied science promotes environmental, water, agricultural, biodiversity, and wildlife conservation, as well as land preservation and building reuse. Conservation can be accomplished through management and strategies derived from indigenous peoples' traditions with implications for nature conservation. The use of environmentally friendly health infrastructure is part of conservation in the health sector. Conservation is the study of the relationship between human interaction and the environment in a society in order to achieve a better life in the field of social sciences and humanities. Conservation strategy, policy, and education are important studies on conservation issues in the social sciences and humanities. Furthermore, conservation strategies are critical for identifying efficiency and conservation in support of development integration and disaster mitigation. Conservation and local wisdom-based education is a learning process that aims to raise environmental and cultural awareness and concern. In particular, conservation and local wisdom-based entrepreneurship education is a promising topic to be studied and researched further to generate various businesses that support environmental and cultural preservation.

This research explores the implementation of Islamic ethical and spiritual values in high school students using a case study design and qualitative research approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from 19 informants, including school officials, students, and parents. The research findings indicate that educators instill ethical and spiritual values in students as part of the process of character development, which starts from planning, execution, and evaluation phases outlined in the Lesson Preparation Plan (RPP) to produce students with high morals, faith, and piety. The study highlights the importance of instilling ethical and spiritual values in high school students to develop their character and help them become more morally upright, faithful, and pious individuals. The cultivation of ethical and spiritual values cannot be separated from supportive and inhibiting factors. The commitment of the school principal and the provision of facilities and infrastructure are supportive factors, while modern technological developments, poor social environment, and lack of attention from parents are inhibiting factors. The findings underscore the need for schools to provide the necessary support and infrastructure to ensure the successful implementation of such values. This study provides valuable insights into the factors that support or hinder the process of instilling ethical and spiritual values in high school students.
