Background: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the viruses that causes high mortality rates worldwide, and if not detected and treated early, it may lead to fatal complications such as cervical cancer and breast cancer. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge of female students regarding the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and its vaccines at a selected University in the Limpopo Province, South Africa. Methods: A quantitative approach was adopted in this cross-sectional descriptive study. The target population was all female students residing in the university residences on campus, and a sample size of 310 students was determined. A systematic sampling technique was used to select the rooms of students, and a self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data. Data collected was analysed using SPSS version 26, and results were presented in the form of frequency and percentages. Results: Out of the 310 respondents, 56.8% had never heard about the HPV, while 43.2% had heard about the HPV and its vaccines. The majority (82.9%) of the respondents were uncertain about the two HPV vaccines available in South Africa, while only 1.9% of the respondents knew that anal cancer is one of the health problems related to HPV. The results of the study further showed that 56.8% of the respondents did not know whether the HPV vaccines prevented cervical cancer or not, while only 6.1% disagreed that the HPV vaccines prevented cervical cancer. Conclusion: The study concludes that the female students at the selected university had insufficient knowledge regarding HPV and its vaccines. Since cervical cancer is one of the major causes of death in low and middle-income countries, knowledge regarding HPV and its vaccines is crucial, especially among the young generation, in order to promote the effective prevention of cervical cancer. Community and university radios should have programs about health promotion issues informing the communities about HPV and its vaccines.

Objectives : Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities or ERPAT are current trends in local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines. Thus, this study aimed to provide a new way of storing and retrieving data and status of membership of ERPAT members in a digital platform. Methods: This study employed a developmental-descriptive research design. There were 80 respondents for ERPAT members and 15 respondents for staff. Also, five experts as evaluators participated in the study. The data were gathered using the PSSUQ instrument for usability and a researcher-made survey questionnaire based on the ISO/EIC 9126 standards for performance efficiency. Rapid Application Development was used as a software development cycle model. Findings: Results show that the level of usability in terms of functional accurateness and suitability were all interpreted as "Very Good." The level of performance in terms of resource utilization and time behavior was also interpreted as "Very Good." The developed system was deemed to be efficient and effective to address the needs of the ERPAT Coordinator and the ERPAT members. This significant result implied that the respondents were quickly impressed by the system features of the developed system. Mobile phones in ERPAT are essential as a tool of communication nowadays. The study results showed SMS has a great potential for storing and retrieving data for ERPAT members. Novelty: The study improved the traditional way of storing and retrieving data and delivering communication using SMS technology to clients digitally. However, further studies are required to ensure the effectiveness of the innovations.

BackgroundDesigning a health promotion campaign is never an easy task, especially during a pandemic of a highly infectious disease such as COVID-19. In Saudi Arabia, many attempts have been made to raise public awareness about COVID-19 infection and precautionary health measures. However, most of the health information delivered through the national dashboard and the COVID-19 awareness campaigns are generic and do not necessarily make the impact needed to be seen on individuals’ behavior. ObjectiveThe objective of this study is to build and validate a customized messaging campaign to promote precautionary health behavior in individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Customization is realized by utilizing a geospatial artificial intelligence technique called the space-time cube (STC) technique. MethodsThis research was conducted in two sequential phases. In phase 1, an initial library of 32 messages was developed and validated based on Fogg behavior model for behavior change. In phase 2, we applied STC as a geospatial artificial intelligence technique to create a local map for one city with three different profiles representing the city districts. The model was built using COVID-19 real clinical data. The messages created in phase 1 is to be customized for residents in each city profile separately. Resultsn phase 1, 32 messages were developed based on resources from the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia. The enumerated content validity of the messages was established through the utilization of the content validity index (CVI). Thirteen professional health care workers (n=13) evaluated the content of the message libraries in Arabic and English. Thirty-two messages were found to have acceptable content validity (I-CVI=0.87). In phase 2, the geospatial intelligence technique we applied showed three zones for the districts of Jeddah city: one for high infection, another for moderate infection, and the third for low infection. Combining the results from the first and second phases, a customized awareness campaign was shaped for the city of Jeddah. ConclusionsThis awareness campaign can be utilized by health authorities to raise individuals' awareness about the precautionary measures that should be taken based on the infection level of their district, and hence help in reducing the number of positive cases in the city of Jeddah.
