The effect of ICI in OFDM systems using improved phase modified sinc pulse

Abstract: In this paper it is introduced and evaluate the use of new pulse shapes in a N-subcarrier Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system in order to reduce intercarrier interference power, ICI. We design new pulses in order to obtain a small average ICI power and a convenient BER value. Using the techniques recently proposed for ICI power and bit error rate (BER) we study the performance of our pulses implemented in an OFDM-BPSK communication system.
