“…In this study, higher mean pain scores and higher mean crying time in the control group confirm the hypotheses of the study and are consistent with the literature. In one study about massaging and foot using reflexology and in two studies about rapid injection without aspiration in infants receiving vaccine injection, as mean pain scores decreased so did mean crying time (Girish, ; Koç & Gözen, ; Ipp et al., ; Uğurlu, ). Like manual pressure, massaging and foot using reflexology is thought to relieve pain through the gate control mechanism.…”

“…In contrast, reflexology is the study of how one part of the human body (in this case, the feet and hands) relates to other parts of the body (43) and considers that the hands and feet contain reflex zones. In addition, Foot reflexology reduces the pain in vaccinating infant aged 0-12 months (44).…”

“…Even fewer studies have assessed the use of reflexology in children under the age of 1 year. One study 25 investigated the effects of reflexology treatment on infantile colic and a second 26 on pain related to vaccinations. In this RCT study, 26 60 infants were allocated to either the reflexology intervention group or to the control group, 30 infants each.…”
