The Effect of Flunixin Meglumine Injected Before Embryo Transfer on Pregnancy Rates in Heifers

Abstract: [1] Bu çalışma, 4. Reprodüksiyon ve Suni Tohumlama Kongresi, 25-28 Ekim, 2007, Antalya'da sözlü bildiri olarak sunulmuştur * Bahri Dağdaş Uluslararası Tarımsal Araştırma Enstitüsü, Konya -TÜRKİYE Makale Kodu (Article Code): KVFD-2009-502 ÖzetBu çalışma ile, östrüsün 7. gününde (östrüs 0) embriyo transferi öncesinde flunixin meglumin (non-steroid anti inflamatuar) enjeksiyonunun gebelik oranı üzerine etkisi araştırıldı. Bu amaçla 39 baş İsviçre Esmeri düve kullanıldı. Östrüs tespitini takiben 7. günde dondurulm… Show more

“…Moreover, the administration of GnRH analogs has been suggested to improve outcomes in ET. GnRH during the diestrous phase induces the development of an accessory CL by either ovulation or luteinization of the DF in recipient cows’ ovaries [ 122 ]. A single injection of GnRH on day 5 of the estrous cycle induces ovulation and accessory CL development, resulting in higher P 4 concentrations and increased pregnancy percentages in heifers receiving in vitro-derived blastocysts [ 123 ].…”

“…There was no beneficial effect of FM observed when the preparation was administered on Days 15 and 16 after timed artificial insemination (TAI), and estrus synchronized using the 5 d Co-Synch + CIDR protocol (Day 0—progesterone insert in an unknown phase of the estrus cycle, then intramuscular injection with 1 mg estradiol benzoate (EB), Day 5—injection with 400 IU of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG), Day 7—insert removal and intramuscular injection of 1 mg EB, Day 17—insemination) [ 32 , 33 ]. Also, Bülbül et al [ 34 ], reported that giving the recipients 500 mg FM i.m. immediately before the transfer of frozen embryos did not show a significant difference in the pregnancy rate compared to the control recipients receiving saline solution.…”

“…Bulbul et al [92] gave 500 mg flunixin meglumine intramuscular five minutes before embryo transfer in a study done on 39 brown Swiss. As a result of the pregnancy examination on the 30th day by means of ultrasound, they reported that pregnancy rate in the flunixin meglumine given group was lower in comparison to control group (50% vs. 52.6%).…”
