In practise, mind maps have long been used by individuals especially teachers to create, visualise, arrange, and expand ideas in order to facilitate teaching and learning. Learning visually is a distinctive technique in modern pedagogy because most individuals are visual learners. As technology advances, digital mind map is created to replace manual mind map to bring modern pedagogy into the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Digital mind map has been used by teachers to teach diverse subjects. However, the use of digital mind map in teaching writing is scarce. Hence, the purpose of this case study was to examine the use of digital mind map to stimulate creativity and critical thinking in ESL writing course. A sample of 32 university students was selected randomly from one public university in Malaysia. The researchers developed a set of questionnaires to measure the three constructsthe usage of digital mind map, creativity, and critical thinking in writing tasks based on these three models: Lin & Faste, William, and Watson-Glaser models. The empirical results showed that the use of digital mind map evidently stimulates the students' creativity and critical thinking in completing their writing tasks as perceived by the respondents. Thus, the use of digital mind map has facilitated the ESL students' writing tasks in terms of integrating creative and critical elements.

What linguistics advice on teaching English as a foreign language learning using blended learning system

Although many studies on blended have been done, very few have studied what linguists advise about teaching English as a foreign language using blended learning-based teaching methods and systems. So, we have collected as much data as possible and began to study it with a phenomenological approach. We get the data by searching electronic engines in well-known journals that discuss the issue of Learning English with a blended teaching system. Because this is a data review study, we focus on the field data evidence published between 2010 and 2021. The data sources include Elsevier journal publications, Google Books, Sage, ERIC, and other national publications. After a series of studies involving in-depth evaluation and coding systems, we can finally conclude our findings with valid and reliable principles, which include, among other things, that mixed teaching allows students to learn all English skills, including writing, listening, speaking, and reading. It is divided into face-to-face and online stages, and both practices listening well to each other, and they can balance the two learning models.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the presence of creativity thinking skills (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration) and creativity teaching strategies in post-basic English as a Foreign Language (EFL) textbooks in Oman. The content analysis method was used to analyze grade 12 EFL textbooks and Teachers' books. The researchers developed two coding books. The first coding book aimed to identify the creativity thinking skills present in the textbooks, and the other book coded the creativity teaching strategies prescribed in the Teachers' Books. The results showed that activities in post-basic EFL textbooks do not provide enough support for creativity thinking skills as only about 20% of grade 12 textbook activities included creativity thinking skills partially or fully. The findings also showed that out of the four types of creativity skills, verbal fluency was the highest. The results also indicated that the prescribed creativity teaching strategies are not very common in the EFL Teachers' Books. The study makes some recommendations for curriculum developers.
