This paper will describe an alternative approach to promoting English as a foreign language from an early age among Indonesian families. We are aware that several approaches have been taken by researchers, curriculum writers, and school teachers, but in reality, the success has not been as satisfying as the expectations of all parties, especially the government. Therefore, we have collected data and analyzed it under a descriptive qualitative study approach. Data analysis starts from applying data coding, critical interpretation, evaluation, and data organization to become valid, finding data to answer questions as above. Based on research evidence from hundreds of works of literature, we can conclude from the results of this study, among other things, that the approach to promoting English language learning in families at an early age has proven to be very successful compared to the approach to learning in schools when they are teenagers. Thus, it is hoped that this finding will be beneficial for many parties; curriculum designers, teachers, and parents.
This research investigated the form and types of circumstances, translation techniques, translation quality of circumstances, and the impact of translation techniques towards the form, types and translation quality of circumstances in bilingual kids story book. This qualitative research used systemic functional linguistic approach. The data obtained was analyzed using analysis technique of Spradley. The results show that circumstances were expressed in the form of words, group of words, and prepositional phrases, having 7 types: circumstances of location, circumstances of manner, circumstances of extent, circumstances of causes, circumstances of accompaniment, circumstances of role, and circumstances of matter. The translation techniques include: single variant, couplet, triplet and quartet. Children stories vary in types and forms of circumstances, depending on the focus and plot of the stories. The translation techniques lead to either cause translation shift or translation qualities of the circumstances are of good quality in terms of accuracy, acceptability and high readability.
Although many studies on blended have been done, very few have studied what linguists advise about teaching English as a foreign language using blended learning-based teaching methods and systems. So, we have collected as much data as possible and began to study it with a phenomenological approach. We get the data by searching electronic engines in well-known journals that discuss the issue of Learning English with a blended teaching system. Because this is a data review study, we focus on the field data evidence published between 2010 and 2021. The data sources include Elsevier journal publications, Google Books, Sage, ERIC, and other national publications. After a series of studies involving in-depth evaluation and coding systems, we can finally conclude our findings with valid and reliable principles, which include, among other things, that mixed teaching allows students to learn all English skills, including writing, listening, speaking, and reading. It is divided into face-to-face and online stages, and both practices listening well to each other, and they can balance the two learning models.
Teaching material is one component that occupies an important role in the learning process. Teaching material with HOTS component will be able to clearly distinguish ideas or ideas, argue well, be able to solve problems, be able to construct explanations, be able to hypothesize, and understand complex matters more clearly. The research aims to produce valid, practical, and effective HOTS-based mathematics teaching materials in elementary schools. The research type is research and development (R&D). The subjects of this study were students and teachers of SDN 4 Ngawen Blora. Data collection techniques used were interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The research result presented is based on the results of limited trials. To this research, it was found that the average mathematics learning achievement increased from 57.50 to 86,50. The prototype of HOTS-based mathematics teaching materials that was developed has shown good results with a percentage of assessment by the teacher of 95.45%. Students show an interest in HOTS-based mathematics teaching materials. Students feel challenged by the activities and learning activities presented. However, a few things need to be fixed, that is unclear pictures of the presentation aspect to students. Additionally, the teacher also provides suggestions and input on improvements to the HOTS-based mathematics teaching material prototype. The suggestion given includes replacing unclear images and providing explanations that match with the image, enlarging the image size that contained in the prototype, and correcting typographical errors. Moreover, the revised prototype results will be used in further trials.
