AMAÇ: Bu anket çalışmasının amacı Gazi Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi’nde eğitim gören 4. ve 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin pandemi dönemindeki mesleki deneyimleriyle ve mezuniyetlerinden sonraki planlarıyla ilgili geribildirimlerinin değerlendirilmesidir. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEMLER: Çalışmanın örneklemi çalışmaya katılmaya gönüllü, COVİD-19 pandemi döneminde diş hekimliği klinik staj eğitimine belli düzenlemelerle devam eden 4. ve 5. sınıfta eğitim gören 220 lisans öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Anket sorularında klinik staj eğitimi ile ilgili öğrencilerin görüşleri ve pandemi sürecinin; öğrencilerin klinik staj eğitimi sırasındaki hasta bakma deneyimlerine ve mezuniyet sonrasındaki planlarına etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel analiz için Ki-Kare testi ve Fisher Freeman Halton Exact Ki-kare testi kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Öğrencilerin % 59.1’i pandemi döneminde uygun şartlar sağlandığında hasta bakma imkanı verildiği için memnun olduğunu belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin % 55.5’i klinik staj eğitimi sırasında daha fazla sayıda hasta bakmak istediğini, % 55.5’i pandemi sürecinin; mezuniyetlerinden sonraki planlarında değişime sebep olduğunu ve % 60.5’i ise mezuniyetten sonra uzmanlık yapmak istediğini belirtmiştir. SONUÇ: Veriler, diş hekimliği 4. ve 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin büyük çoğunluğunun klinik staj eğitimi sırasında fazla sayıda hasta bakılmasının eğitimleri açısından iyi olacağını düşündüklerini ve mezuniyetlerinden sonra uzmanlık eğitimi almak istediklerini göstermektedir. Bu veriler ışığında pandemi gibi olağanüstü durumlarda diş hekimliği gibi pratik eğitimin çok önemli olduğu bir meslek dalında eğitimin etkilenmemesi adına bazı düzenlemelerin yapılması düşünülebilir.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this survey study is to evaluate the feedback of students in Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry about online education in the 2020-2021 academic year due to the pandemic and the hybrid education in the 2021-2022 academic year. MATERIAL-METHOD: The sample of the study consists of 508 undergraduate students who continue their dentistry education on a web-based basis during the COVID-19 pandemic period. A survey consisting of 14 questions, consisting of six parts. Chi-square test and Fisher Freeman Halton Exact Chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: It was determined that 31.5% of the students participated in the survey could not focus on the online theoretical lessons because of less communication than face-to-face lessons. It was determined that the majority (83.78%) of the 2nd and 3rd grade students who received preclinical education preferred face to face education. CONCLUSION: In this survey study, the effect of online education and hybrid education were evaluated by students. Face to face education is very effective than other education models.

To analyze, classify and summarize current data in Turkish dentistry literature related to COVID-19 in 2-year duration from beginning of the pandemic to the end of 2021. The terms ‘‘COVID-19”, “koronavirüs”, “diş hekimliği”, “pandemic”, “coronavirus”, “dentistry”, “pandemics”, “SARS-Cov-2”’’ were searched separately and in combinations in PubMed and Google Academic databases. Regardless of whether the studies were in Turkish and/or English, it was taken into account that they belong to Turkish dentists, interventional and/or observational, and have been published in the duration starts from the beginning of the pandemic to the end of 2021 and contain information on the COVID-19 pandemic in dentistry. 46 studies in PubMed database and 74 studies in Google Scholar were identified. Studies were classified under 8 main topics (knowledge level and behavioral assessment, psychological effects, research specific to dentistry departments, practices, education, importance of the pandemic, infection control and precautions, social media and social network analysis). Through the findings of the analysis, it will be ensured that dentists and healthcare professionals serving in the field of dentistry will be updated on their knowledge, attitudes and behaviors, be prepared for possible future pandemic situations and shape their perspectives on infectious diseases under the guidance of the literature.
