Abstract:Our analysis suggests that almost 10% of CAS and CEA is performed in patients with atrial fibrillation in general practice, and higher rates of adverse events are observed among these patients, particularly those undergoing CEA.
“…Pacjentów z AF włączano jednak do niewielu z tych badań. W dużym badaniu obserwacyjnym łączna częstość występowania zgonów w okresie wewnątrz-szpitalnym, udarów w okresie pozabiegowym i powikłań sercowych była większa wśród pacjentów z AF poddawanych stentowaniu tętnic szyjnych (457/7668; 6,0%) niż endarterektomii (4438/51 320; 8,6%; p < 0,0001) [1031]. Mimo dokonania w tej analizie korekty względem początkowego ryzyka może to po prostu odzwierciedlać rodzaj pacjentów kierowanych na każdy z tych zabiegów i potrzebne są dalsze randomizowane badania w celu potwierdzenia optymalnej strategii leczenia u pacjentów z AF i chorobą tętnic szyjnych.…”

“…In a large observational study, the composite of in-hospital mortality, post-procedural stroke, and cardiac complications was higher in AF patients undergoing carotid stenting (457/7668; 6.0%) compared with endarterectomy (4438/51 320; 8.6%; P , 0.0001). 1031 Despite adjustment for baseline risk, this may just reflect the type of patients referred for each procedure, and further ESC Guidelines randomized studies are needed to confirm the optimal treatment strategy in AF patients with carotid disease. 15.10 Anticoagulation in patients with biological heart valves (including transcatheter aortic valve implantation) and specific forms of valvular heart disease…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
