The Distribution of Lead Accumulation (Soil, Water and Mangrove Vegetation) to Conserve Segara Anakan Lagoon

Abstract: Eastern part of Segara Anakan Lagoon (E-SAL) is an estuarine ecosystem to dispose industrial waste i.e. lead (Pb) containing waste. The study aims to analysis the distribution of Pb in soil, water and mangrove vegetation matrices. Several parameters including bioaccumulation factor (BAF), translocation factor (TF), leaf morphometric (the effect of Pb for mangrove vegetation) were used to estimate their impact. We developed a pre-design of mangrove zone as a model in reducing Pb cntaminantion in E-SAL. The resu… Show more

“…This could be related to a long-term accumulation of metals in the branches (Marchiol et al 2004). Roots are more susceptible to metals than shoots are, because roots are the first organs to come into touch with metals (in the soil), and they accumulate metals in higher proportions than shoots do (Tiryakioglu et al 2006;Hilmi et al 2017).…”

“…Mangrove rehabilitation in areas with permanent water inundation needs specific methods other than the conventional techniques (Abdullah et al 2014) to reduce the impact of inundated water (Yanuartanti et al 2015;Ysebaert et al 2016). As a consequence, mangrove rehabilitation in such areas requires significant effort and cost to increase the adaptation of planted mangrove to enhance the survival and growth rates in terms of height and diameter (Hilmi et al 2017b;Hilmi 2018;Munji et al 2013;Nur and Hilmi 2021).…”

“…Mangrove ecosystem has ability to absorb, lter, bind and trap heavy metals from industry (Syakti et al 2013a;Hilmi et al 2017b) sediments, garbage, and household. The adaptation pattern of mangrove vegetation to grow and survive in the polluted area can be conducted by the activity of speci c root and metabolism system (Hilmi et al 2017b, a). This activities can be used to reduce impact of heavy metal contaminant following nutrient absorption activity (Hilmi et al 2017b, a; Wolswijk et al 2020).…”
