The Development of a Mathematical Model for the Prediction of Corrosion Rate Behaviour for Mild Steel in 0.5 M Sulphuric Acid

Abstract: The effect of varying temperature, concentration, and time on the corrosion rate of mild steel in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 acid with and without (wild jute tree) grewia venusta plant extract has been investigated by weight loss. The temperature, concentration of inhibitor and time were varied in the range of 0-10% v/v at 2% v/v interval, 30-70 ∘ C at 20 ∘ C interval, and 45-270 minutes at 45 minutes interval respectively. Scanning electron microscope was used to analyze the morphology of the sample surface. Linear regre… Show more

“…The corrosion rate increases with the increase in the corrosion time as shown in Figure 3. This result is similar to the previous studies [9], [16]. Stainless steel has the lowest weight loss with a value of 300mg and the lowest corrosion rate of 22.63 mpy.…”

“…Some prominent compounds such as benzoic acid [49] , benzotriazole [50] , thiourea [48] , flavonoids [51] , carbohydrates [52] , tannins [53] and tryptamine [54] containing these active functional groups whose sources are from natural plants had been applied as corrosion inhibitors for many metals. Flavin mononucleotide from grape pomace extracts was detected as a good OGCI for hot rolled steel in acidic medium [51] .…”
