The effect of time variation on the steels corrosion rate in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution

Abstract: Previous researches have carried out studying the corrosion behavior of steels, the most frequently used steels are medium carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. This is due to their wide range of applications. So, corrosion behavior is necessary to be analyzed for every steel type because of its wide function. This study was aimed to analyze the corrosion rate, macrostructure, and the XRD results of the AISI 1045, AISI 4140, and SS 304 which represent every steel type. Then, the steels were exposed t… Show more

“…Based on previous research [5] It is very clear that the corrosion rate is strongly influenced by environmental factors, pH, pressure time and temperature. Environmental factors in seawater are not only influenced by salinity, oxygen dissolved and marine biota but also by the content of chemical elements caused by the mining process and waste disposal into the sea.…”

“…Steel is a crucial industrial material used for many years ago to manufacture pipes, machinery, structures, and tools; unfortunately, its degradation occurs due to corrosion, a significant problem that generates costly economic losses and irreversible damage [1]. Therefore, preventing and controlling this phenomenon is essential when developing a monitoring or maintenance plan.…”
