The Determination of Corticoids and Related Steroid Analogs by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract: High-performance reverse-phase liquid chromatographic data on 28 corticoids and related steroid analogs, plus methyl and propyl parabens, are presented. Retention values, relative to acetone, are reported for each steroid on Bondapak Phenyl/Corasil, Bondapak C18/Corasil, and micro(micron) Bondapak C18 columns, and methanol/water or acetonitrile/water mobile phases. Ultraviolet detector response data for four of the steroids and calculated efficiencies for the three different reverse-phase columns are given. Ch… Show more

“…Therefore, the RIA method was compared with a HPLC method which separated the 11-dehydro metabolite from dexamethasone. The method used for separation was based on the previously reported procedure for the measurement of dexamethasone and other glucocorticoids by HPLC (2,(19)(20)(21).…”

“…A number of methods involving normal- [11,12] or reverse-phase HPLC [13][14][15][16][17] have been introduced for the determination of serum adrenal steroids. In the case of normal-phase HPLC, the elution of highly polar ste roids such as E and F takes a long time, and therefore a gradient system needs to be employed as the mobile Fig.…”
