In recent years, gender mainstreaming in education has been discussed and studied. In the Philippines, however, research has tended to focus on extreme ends of the implementation process such as the awareness of educators about the gender perspective or the success in incorporating gender in their pedagogical practices, rather than an in-depth analysis on the overall experience of educators in the government’s attempt to mainstream gender-and-development education in schools. Also, there is a gap in the literature concerning Filipino English language teaching (ELT) practitioners' views on integrating the gender perspective into English language education. Through semi-structured interviews, the present study explores how a group of 71 Filipino college teachers of English perceive the benefits, ways, and challenges of incorporating the gender dimension in ELT. The thematic analysis of interview responses revealed the following benefits: enhancement of learners’ critical thinking skills, promotion of an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and increased awareness on the critical role of language (i.e., English) in recognizing diversity. Further, it was found that the teacher-participants incorporate gender knowledge in ELT in two ways: instructional materials and teaching-learning activities, and teacher-student interaction. In terms of challenges, three major themes emerged: learner factor, teacher factor, and institutional constraints (which were further categorized as curriculum, resource, and belief).

Historically, the family and, more generally, gender policies have been a central issue in both nationalist and far-right rhetoric. This holds particularly for Germany, where the so-called male-breadwinner model and the rhetoric of Kinder, Küche, Kirche (children, kitchen, church) have a long tradition. At the same time, Germany's National Socialist past confers a negative connotation on notions of the family as a continuation of the nation. In this article, Fangen and Lichtenberg examine the family policies and views on gender roles, as well as the views on Muslims, of politicians from two German far-right parties and their youth organizations, as well as one German anti-immigrant social movement organization. Their study, based on press releases, party programmes and social media posts, adds to the growing literature on the importance of gender in nationalist and far-right politics in general, and in far-right critiques of Islam in particular. Their specific contribution is a detailed focus on the similarities and differences in various organizations on the German far right, as well as an analysis that draws on concepts such as femonationalism and, in a similar vein, Rogers Brubaker's notion of civilizationism.

Hochschulorganisation und akademische Selbstverwaltung in der Pandemie 23 Zusammenfassung Hochschulen in Deutschland sind in ihrer Organisationsform stark durch die akademische Selbstverwaltung geprägt, die für eine Repräsentation der verschiedenen Statusgruppen in den einzelnen Gremien sorgt. Kommunikationswege müssen erweitert werden, um die Formen der Beteiligung aufrechtzuerhalten, wenn nicht gar zu intensivieren. Gerade in der Krise ergeben sich besondere Herausforderungen, die exemplarisch am Abhalten von Senatssitzungen und dem Diskurs zur Ausgestaltung der Lehre aufgezeigt werden. Die Hochschule als lernende Organisation hat auf die Corona-Pandemie bereits adaptiv reagiert und eine Vielzahl von Neuerungen umgesetzt, die insbesondere im Bereich der Kommunikation dank eines massiven Digitalisierungsschubs für nachhaltige Veränderungen gesorgt haben. Diese zu etablieren und auch in Zukunft gewinnbringend zu nutzen, wird zentrale Aufgabe der Organisation sein.
